Spot on, never knew why this kid didn't get more p.t. and he will improve. I guess we can assume the Rockets didn't want to show their hand incase of a trade .You think J.Smth is versatile, then you haven't seen anything yet.let's see if he is ready to commit and do work to get to his ceiling. The sky is the limit for this kid.

I'm with you on this one OP. Plus if we do the Howard/Asik thing, he will have the benefit of always playing next to a rebounding, rim-protector which should take a lot of pressure off of him.

Go Thru training camp and per-season first before giving starting PF spot to anyone currently on team.

I think he is due for a breakout season IF someone can get the idea through McHale's head to give him some damn playing time

If you look what happened with Morris...

Everyone thought he was on Mchale's **** list in his Rookie season. Then last season McHale played him extensively... even when he struggled. If we don't move Asik for a vet PF I dont see why Mchale wouldn't give TJones the same treatment.

Above all else with Jones, as much as I loved him last season, there were moments when his decision making and defensive positioning was absolutely awful and I think if he can be the 1st or even 2nd option PF in training camp I don't see why he can't win Mchale's trust.

In yesterday's post game interview Jones clearly said his focus had to be defense/ rebounding...and I imagine that's what the coaching staff has asked him to focus on. Mchale's first question has always been, "What position can he defend?" Let's hope T Jones can defend the 4 this season.

He went 9-13 from the field (including 1-2 3 pt), hit 5-7 free throws, grabbed 12 boards tonight in under 30 minutes.

Must have been those two fouls that didn't impress you.

It's a rarity to have the lesser and greater Howard on the same team. It might create a singularity.

T Jones Will be great! I think he will start this year and become the perfect four on our team. If he can hit the corner three then he is the perfect fit.

Solid reserve this season. Nothing more, nothing less. I'd love to be wrong here, though.

I'm with you. I think he has great potential but he's still a year or two away from being a impact starting PF in this league. Would love to be wrong though

I thought he was decent in the playoffs last year. The only thing I thought McHale got really wrong in the playoffs was giving Greg Smith some decent minutes and giving Terrence Jones very few minutes.

I hope he really breaks out this season. If he can make any sort of impact like Carl Landry made, this will be an amazing team.

He should be the starting PF if Asik and Dwight don't start together and our issues will be solved.

Keep in mind the Rockets (forced) preference of putting young players in the D-LEAGUE to start. Thats gonna automatically cut back on rookie playing time. It can artificially make them look "unready". They sent Jones to the D-League SIX TIMES!

Generally its really young players and high school picks like Andrew Bynum who don't come storming out the age and then develop later. Also its not like Terrence Jones DIDNT have good flashes in his limited chances. If you care about the PER stat, he had the 2nd best on the team behind Harden.

Terrence Jones is showing he can produce at every level. He did well in last summer league, did okay in preseason, he did VERY nice in D-League, he did relatively decent on the Rockets, and he's doing well again this current summer league.

T Jones doesnt beast on offense efficient like Landry (or even Greg Smith), he's more a stat sheet filler in rebounds, blocks and occasional steals, while offering some dribbling, passing, shooting versatilty. Can be something between an Al Harrington and Josh Smith. At the very least, he can be a serviceable rotation player.

Can you judge him from the NBA playoffs. He seemed to do alright there. I can't speak for everyone on this board but all most of us are looking from TJones is to continue to improve. He has potential and he showed it playing limited minutes this past season. If he continues to improve that only makes him more likely to help us out going forward. An improved TJones means an improved Rockets team. Nothing he did today is a negative on his improvement. That's all I am, and most on here, are looking for. The fact that he looked good is a good sign. Don't you agree.

Yeah it's only summer league but if he looked pathetic today that would not be a good thing. Don't you agree?
