Theres actually not alot of guys left. We need a back up shooting guard. Only guys available of note are Ronnie Brewer, Daniel Gibson, Dahntay Jones, Stephen Jackson, Daequan Cook(LoL), Anthony Morrow, Xavier Henry, Leandro Barbosa, Mickael Pietrus, and of course Tracy McGrady. Harden doesn't play defense so his backup should be a change of pace defender, I don't think any of those guys play good defense. Besides Jackson and he's a nut LoL

Ronnie Brewer is an excellent defender. He's horrendous on offense though.

Brewer is too one dimensional and I can't get that butt kicking he took from T Mac when he played for Utah out of my head LoL

Well, like someone else mentioned their is not many available over the top free agents. Also on that note as far as I am aware we aren't exactly high in the cap space category.

I would like to pick up Anthony Morrow, Leandro Barbosa, and Corey Brewer. Somehow the Clippers keeps signing people and they cant possibly be under the cap, why cant the Rockets pick up a couple extra bench contributors. I'm sure I need to brush up on all the new cap rules under this CBA, but grabbing a couple players for the veteran minimum and someone with the RLE for two years would certainly make me feel more comfortable going into next season.

I think we should cut Ohlbrecht, keep Canaan in the D-League until he has played a few weeks after his ankle is 100% and he has been cleared to play and see if he can be of use as an end of the bench gunner for the Rockets this season. I would be totally stoked if we could role out a lineup like this:

    PG: Lin/Beverley/Barbosa
    SG: Harden/Barbosa/Brewer/Anderson
    SF: Parsons/Brewer or Morrow/Garcia/
    PF: Howard/Jones/DMO/Casspi/Smith
    C: Asik/Howard/Smith

Lots of guys who can play multiple positions, solid depth at all positions and when we play both Asik and Howard, we can go the Twin Towers route, or start one of Jones or D-Mo as they improve and hopefully one of them improves enough and takes ownership of the 4 spot and makes it theirs. I love the options and can't wait for this next season to get underway. GO ROCKETS!!!!!!!!!

Is it even possible for us to look into AK47, financially?

We don't really need another SF.Garcia will backup at the 2 aand 3 just fine. Plus he'll want more then we can affords and he is by all reports nets bound anyway.

    This guy is still available:

He is exactly what we need, a guy who doesn't give a **** and annoys the hell out of opponents. Also a very good rebounder, and good at drawing fouls. Really killed the Rockets when he started in place of the injured David West on March 27, 2013-- Morey spoke about how he was impressed by Hansbrough's Kenneth Faried-like energy level after that game.

He may take the room exception from Houston given that the Rockets offer more of a chance to become a starter here as opposed to being on a team with an established starting PF. Also, he probably won't get too many big $ offers given that Indiana elected not to keep him restricted with a $4.1M qualifying offer-- if the market on him was better, they would have kept him restricted and tried to sign and trade him for an asset at least. He didn't exactly put up very good traditional stats (only 43% FG%, 7 pts and 4.6 rebs per game) but shows well when you dig deeper (decent TS% and ORtg due to high FT numbers and offensive rebound rate).

I'd like this pickup. Think he'd sign for the mid level?

I hope Morey looks for a 4 that can hit a jumper. We simply haven't had a decent power forward since Luis Scola was discarded like crap, or in Morey terms, an "asset."

I wish we could have him back. Imagine that jumper when Dwight is doubled, and that fight Luis had every night was something the majority of NBA players don't have.

If we're looking for another wing, Pietrus is athletic, can create his own shot and get to the rim on the break. Stephen Jackson is a favorite player of mine outside the Rox, and is very underrated if you can overlook some character flaws.

Anthony Morrow had a bad year, but is still one of the best shooters in the NBA. I think he wants more money than we have though.

If we're looking for cheap and for need, Jermaine Oneal is the dude for the job. I hope he considers how great his stat sheet would look next to Dwight. Dwight gets doubled, tosses it over to JO for a quick dunk.

Corey Magettte is actually a really good player. Look at his Clipper years. He can score with the best of them, but he's had some bad situations. Signing with wrong teams, etc...

All of those guys that seem like trash can have contract years in the right situation. Have Dwight in the post can make any wing look good...so many wide open jumpers.

Dwight is no Hakeem, but remember how good Matt Bullard looked when he had all of those open threes?

If I were a declining NBA free agent player, I'd have to consider money, but also where I could extend my career based on the makeup of the team.

If you're a scorer or three-point specialist, Houston is the team you go to.

    LoL, what?!

You should know by now that Youth mixed with Veteran leadership leads to championships.

    Example: Miami Heat.

Example: Boston Celtics with an "old" Paul, KG, and Ray, mixed with a young Rondo.

Example: Lakers: An "older" Kobe mixed with a younger Pau, Bynum, Lamar, mid-age RonRon

    I could keep going.
