All of these free agent signings have made me realize Lin's contract isn't even that bad. I don't understand how he would be hard to move if we were shopping him....
It will depend on how Harden plays If he dribbles and dribbles the ball around like Moochie Norris, then I think Lin will have a worse year stat wise than last year If Harden develops and picks his spots, then Lin will have an efficient 16 pts and 7 assist type year
What's been Rocket Guy's general opinion of Lin throughout the season? Just curious. I'm betting very negative.
His salary jumps up to $15 million in the third year of his deal even though his cap hit is only $8.3 million. Same goes for Asik, but Asik is a double-double defensive big man that teams are willing to pay.
I also think having an entire off season with all of our starters will greatly help this team, and Lin, succeed.
Yes but couldn't the Rockets give cash or something to the team taking him? I'm sure they made a lot from the chinese companies that sponsored the Rockets this year.
Probably not... <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Though they won't rule out post-Howard trades, the Rockets are now open to keeping Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin, league source says.</p>— Ken Berger (@KBergCBS) <a href="https://twitter.com/KBergCBS/statuses/353521628862349312">July 6, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
His numbers don't need to improve for him to get better. He just needs to contol the game better and improve his jumper. It's mostly a confidence issue.
As long as Lin can score between 13-14 ppg, dish 7-8 apg (which I think he will) increase his efficiency and limit turnovers, and if the Rockets are a top 3 team in the West I'd say it would be a good season for him and the team. I just don't understand why people just want a PG who can only shoot 3s. Morey will get his sharpshooters. What we need from our point guard is versatility- someone who can also attack along with Harden (Dwight even said he likes that Jeremy attacks) and put some added pressure on defenses. Besides, I'd rather have a young, decent but constantly improving jump shooter who can attack than just one who can shoot at an elite level.
The hazard of short messages... I just meant to convey that last season most likely will not be Lin's only year with the Rockets. I expect him to get better and better. Hence, I don't consider it his "best" year.
agree with most of what you say but when you say Lin should... "...be physically able to play well when the playoffs start." What do you mean? He played 82 games and seemed to be in good condition when the playoffs started last season. Are you talking about when he had the meniscus tear and knee surgery in NY? I think it's very difficult to avoid a meniscus tear. Sounds like you're advising Lin not to get injured.
The team can only use $3 million cash in trades per year. Why waste it on trading Lin? If there's a trade that makes sense go for it, but Lin is a contributor.
