You make some good observations on TJones. I watched all his D-League games, so I've seen what he can do.

I think a lot of people are going to think that he doesn't play with great intensity, some may even say he doesn't hustle, but I think he just has a way about him that makes him look a little lethargic. He kind of shuffles his feet when he runs, but he moves around the court well.

I agree that he does hesitate at times when he catches the ball. It looks like he is still trying to figure everything out and is a little slow in his decision making, but I think that should be somewhat expected from a player his age.

TJones does amaze me with everything he can do. He does have the ability to knock down the three, and he will take that shot if left open. He's not real consistent yet, but the shot is there. He does have some post moves, we saw it today, and I think he can improve in this area. He handles the ball well in my opinion. Sometimes when he brings the ball up the floor I have to remind my self that he's 6' 9" and 252 pounds. TJones really can do it all, but as you say he just doesn't believe it yet.

He's learning though. They interviewed him after the game and asked him about last year, and he said there was just a lot to learn as far as communicating and learning to play defense. I think at some point in the near future it's all going to click and he's going to be a really good player. I think it's important to remember this guy just turned 21 years old a few months ago. I really hope the Rockets hang on to Jones, I think he has a really high ceiling.

I see Terrence Jones having an emergence some what like Kawhi Leonard had this past season. I agree with you in saying Tjones doesn't show much intensity or emotion. However if anyone watches him play they will see he plays with a lot of heart even he doesn't show it.

TJones and Dwight are going to be a awesome combination on the court together, especially if TJones can improve his jumper and extended jumper, he could potentially be better than Josh Smith.

I really like this kids attitude, I'm really rooting for this kid to become a really good player for us and maybe become a contributing part of this team.

Isaiah Caanan not playing today was a BIG buzzkill but Im happy with TJones and PatBEV they both will be in the teams rotation... As right now I only see Pat,Jones,Smith, and Caanan as being on the Rockets roster. Everyone else is dleague or overseas.

Didn't see the game but sounds like Bev is going all out in a summer league game. Not good. He should chill and not get injured. Canaan needs to get back ASAP so h can start. Bev shouldn't be used too much for som silly summer games.

I don't think that's the worry for him. There were three plays were it looked like he could've caused some injuries for the Sixers.

    DRose?

Hopefully he'll make it back before the last game. Otherwise we won't see him play until training camp scrimmage.

If this was an actual game that counted towards the regular season record, I'm sure Bev (and the rest of the team) wouldn't be so aggressive / reach for everything.

SL is a chance to show off your skills to everyone watching, but it's also fairly casual.

Bev played 26+ minutes but he played at only one gear, as always. He needs to learn to pace himself.

Bev and Cooley were hustling out there. Jones picking up where he left off at last year's summer league.

So I've been thinking a lot about how TJones would fit next to D12. I even went as far as watching a couple of Magic games from their 2009 finals run.

The Magic ran a very effective two man game of Rashard Lewis and D12. Rashard is undoubtedly the more offensively gifted player, but TJones is significantly more athletic, younger and a better defender. Also, we wouldn't be nearly as dependant on offensive production from the PF spot.

Perhaps the most glaring weakness with this combo was demonstrated whenever D12 had to rotate and help on defense or went for an offensive move and missed. In either of these situations, the opposing PF and/or C was able to overpower Rashard for offensive and defensive boards. To add to this, Rashard would often set up at the perimeter to give D12 space to operate, but this left him totally out of position to grab the board when necessary. The end result was few 2nd chance opportunities and disrupted offensive rhythm.

Check out the stats from the series clincher on Orlando's floor

    36 to 47 TRB and 6 to 13 ORB

What this translates to is a PF who has the ability to stretch the floor but primarily plays sound defense and uses athleticism to hustle for boards and putbacks. This sounds a lot like TJones, if you ask me.

My point is that perhaps Morey feels like the PF options on our squad are more than capable of providing this role for a much better contract than a marquee PF. I really think he believes in TJones and DMo's potential.

This is it, trial by fire. Put TJones next to D12 and watch him shine.
