Solid point. I mean he is a decent starter with club control that is fairly young. He can pitch late into games and keeps the ball on the ground usually. You'd think there is a decent market for that.

Harrell in a good team is an excellent 5th starter kinda like Joe Blanton. He just needs better talent around him.

Orioles just got Feldman from the Cubs, so I imagine they are no longer an option for Bud.

Bruce Miles covers the Cubs for the Daily Herald, the main paper for Chicago's suburbs.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Cubs&amp;src=hash">#Cubs</a> trade Marmol to Dodgers for RHP Matt Guerrier. Dodgers get Cubs' No. 4 intl slot. Cubs get Houston's 2, 3 slots for Ronald Torreyes</p>&mdash; Bruce Miles (@BruceMiles2112) <a href="https://twitter.com/BruceMiles2112/statuses/352124861054861312">July 2, 2013</a></blockquote>

Torreyes, 20, ranked as the #13 prospect in the Reds system entering the 2012 season by Baseball America. He hit .370 in his debut in 2010 and .356 in a half-season's worth of games with Dayton (A) in 2012. Last year, in Class A Advanced, he hit .264/.326/.385 with 6 homers and 47 RBI in 115 games with Daytona. He walked 32 times, struck out 29, and was 13-17 in stolen base attempts.

The Cubs acquired him, Dave Sappelt, and Travis Wood in a trade that sent Sean Marshall to Cincinnati on December 23, 2011.

With Tennessee (AA), Torreyes is hitting .260/.337/.381 with 2 home runs and 25 RBI in 64 games. He has walked 22 times and struck out 15 times, and has been successful on all 4 of his stolen base attempts.

The Cubs got a pretty weak haul for Feldman. Not good.

    Marlins got nothing basically.

Bud is cheaper, younger, and under club control. Should be worth a lot more.

At least you get a sense of what the Astros are doing...with the Marlins? To trade away a starter with a 3.50 ERA for virtually nothing is just crazy.

Bud is worth at least one legit prospect and a couple of other high upside low floor types. Either that, or keep him

Exactly. I imagine a lot of other pitchers are coming off the board first because the Astros have a high asking price for Bud. There's no urgency to trade him, so they may as well run a hard bargain.

Red Sox just lost Andrew Miller for the season, they were already looking for bp help. Wonder what they would give up for Veres, or if Harrell has some success out of the pen maybe even him

    2. The Houston Astros trade pitcher Bud Norris, second baseman Jose Altuve and outfielder Chris Carter to the Kansas City Royals for outfielder Bubba Starling, pitchers Sam Selman and Jason Adam, shortstop Orlando Calixte and catcher Cameron Gallagher and second baseman Johnny Giavotella.

Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow has done a great job in staying focused on rebuilding the Astros from scratch, and this is a great opportunity for him acquire more long-term solutions. The Astros would receive outfielder Starling, the fifth overall pick in the 2011 draft, who profiles as an above-average center fielder with 30-home run power potential. He's still very raw because of splitting his time between football and baseball in high school, but he has the tools to be an all-star. That's the kind of upside the Astros want.

I don't like Starling. Replace him with Zimmer, and I'm sold.
