Prosecution had no case, but the media and politicians demanded Zimmerman's head, so they had to charge him with something. So they are going through the motions. The cops were made to look like incompetent racists for not holding Zimmerman, and now they are getting their revenge on the media/politicians by attesting to the veracity of Zimmerman's story. But with a jury of low information voters, who knows what they will do. Every juror should be legitimately terrified of retribution if they don't convict. What if Spike Lee or Al Sharpton tweets out their addresses? What if the New Black Panthers put a bounty on their heads like they did for Zimmerman? You think Eric Holder will protect them? Hah!
I do not think that the prosecution has proven the state of mind element for second degree murder beyond a reasonable doubt. As I have said before, manslaughter would have been a more provable charge. The prosecutor had better have something up his sleeve on cross and in closing to tie it all together. Right now, it feels that the prosecution is kind of all over the map. Juries expect a story to be told. Stories have a logical beginning, middle and end. This just feels disorganized.
This case is so cut and dry, but it's the George apologists that are REACHING in every possible direction to save him. I feel bad for Trayvon and his family, and I am sickened that this case has gone on so long. The evidence is there. The motive is there. The dead body is there. To save his ass, Zimmerman's defense team consistently blames the "liberal media" (which is a myth anyway), but regardless of that, if we want to keep it simple for the ill-informed, George brought a gun to a fist-fight that HE started after being told to stand down and let the police handle it. I wish George left his gun at home because it would have just been a fight, and not a murder. Usually, it's not self-defense when you start the fight. George and his fam have shown minimal remorse to protect themselves because they know they are guilty as all sin. Trayvon will get justice, or it will show that the system has failed him and every other young, African American kid that looks unfamiliar to overly-aggressive, minority-profiling neighbor with a gun and a motive.
The motive is there? What is the motive? You don't know that GZ started the fight -- that has not been proven. It's legal to carry a gun if you have a CCL, and GZ did. Then you go into the intellectually lazy "autopilot drone thinking" of generalizing this to all African Americans. Low-value post from you, codman. I beg you to think more critically. THINK, don't just react and hurl the race card. That's the easy, lazy way out.
oh please I truly think some of you see the world as "us vs. them" -- blacks vs. whites. Neither community is a monolith like that, and to suggest that a lynching of GZ is ironic due to white lynchings from the distant history of this country, is simply intellectual laziness. and GZ identifies as hispanic, anyways.
After seeing the prosecution case, I agree. Uh oh. It is a murder trial. It has not been exceptionally long. The people rested after two weeks. The Casey Anthony trial, for example, lasted over a month and a half. It really isn't, which it the problem with the people's case. I agree. The motive is plain as day to all of the people who have seen the pictures of the blood coming from the back of Zimmerman's head. What a revelation. No one, at any point, has suggested that Trayvon Martin is still alive. A competent defense attorney presents everything they are ethically allowed to present to further the interests of their client. It is called being a zealous advocate and it is what they are supposed to do. The irony is delicious. Yep. Yes. Objection, assumes facts not in evidence. There is no proof of who started the fist fight. Told by whom? The only person he talked to was a non-emergency police dispatcher who told him that they didn't need him to follow Martin. Is there some evidence that has been presented that a police officer ordered him to stand down? I wish George had not been going to Target. I wish Trayvon had not had a hankering for Skittles. I wish George had been on vacation. I wish Trayvon had not been suspended and was still in Miami. I wish they had spoken to each other instead of resorting to violence. In any of those situations, not only would there not have been a death (I don't think there was a murder), there wouldn't have even been a fight. True. There are a couple of issues though. One, we don't know who started the fight. Two, it is still self defense if you start a fight where there is no threat of death or great bodily injury (like you are pushing and shoving) and the other person escalates the fight to the point where there is a reasonable fear of death or great bodily injury (like straddling you and breaking your nose and forcing your head into contact with the ground in such a way that you have multiple bloody head wounds. Given the physical evidence, it seems that the prosecution has not only failed to eliminate this as a reasonable possibility, but they have left it as the most likely possibility. George is on trial for murder. I wouldn't expect him to express remorse. I hope the result of the case is just. I disagree with you both on what that means and on what the consequences would be if that does or does not happen.
Trayvon Martin’s Father: Screams Heard On 911 Call Are Not Trayvon Martin… Big blow to the prosecution’s already flimsy case. Via NRO:http://www.nationalreview.com/corne...screams-not-trayvon-martin-dimitrios-halikias Lead police investigator Christopher Serino testified today that Trayvon Martin’s father, Tracy Martin, said that the screams for help captured in a 911 call did not belong to Trayvon Martin. Serino let Martin listen to the recording before asking, “Is that your son’s voice in the background?” Serino recalled that Martin “looked away, and under his breath, as I interpreted it, said ‘no.’”
Tracy Martin now testifies that he said "I don't know" instead of No as was witnessed by 2 officers in the room. Any of you railing on Zimmerman for alleged inconsistencies want to weigh in on that?
THC in Martin's system is allowed as evidence. That could be used to support GZ's statements to the 911 operator that Martin looked like he was on drugs that night. Another bad day for the Prosecution.
LOL....THC has a calming effect. It is not going to make you aggressive. If Zimmerman is so confident he did the right thing, take the stand. We know that coward will never do it.
could having this illegal drug in your system cause you to look suspicious? and again, you resort to "manliness reducing" insults. irrelevant you're very biased regarding this case
