What does everyone think of trying to sign Chauncey Billups for the vet minimum or part of our exception to run as backup PG/SG? I know we have Beverley slotted as our backup PG right now, but I think at this point we could use Billups more as a solid backup SG and could definitely use his championship experience and great leadership qualities. I would love to see him shoot a bunch of 3's for us and lead the bench squad for 20 mpg. He isn't so great on defense anymore and gets injured more often as he has aged. But I think he would bring great value to this young Rockets team. Thoughts?

I think we have three PGs and Chauncey is old and washed up.

If we keep Lin then we have 3 point guards, so no. If Lin somehow gets traded, then I'd still say no, I'd rather just re-sign Aaron Brooks to be the 3rd PG. Chauncey is just too damn old.

I think it's a good idea. He doesn't even have to play...leadership presence and stuff.

Veteran presence always helps but we just have too many PGs already. I rather sign Brewer for that last guard spot.

I know we have too many PGs with the drafting of Canaan, that's why I was suggesting he would play more of a shooting guard role off the bench. But I agree with you if we could sign Brewer somehow, I would take him every time over Billups. But do we have enough money to sign Brewer? Can we exceed the cap to sign him if we stay under the tax apron? I'm not real clear on how free agent signings will work for the Rockets now that we are basically maxed out with the addition of Dwight.

I think a veteran player who is not better than any of the players he's advising is a risk to a locker room.

At this point, he's not better than either Lin or Beverley and is unlikely to spend much time with Canaan.

Why are people so sure that Canaan will pan out? He is a second round pick and honestly is probably not gonna do that well. I think Billups would definitely a nice additin if Lin/Bev would get injured.

More efficient flopping free throw shooting behind Harden. It makes sense actually.

The OP said at backup SHOOTING GUARD, NOT at PG.

    At vet min only.
