Man I wish Dirk was on the market and could be traded for Omer, Dmo, Jones, Derozan and picks with Toronto taking Marion and Lin and Dirk and Lowry coming to the rockets. And I think Lin for Lowry is a downgrade but one you do for Dirk and either get Lowry at a price you like long term or keep testing the free agent market for point guards.
A couple of moves that I would like to see: Wilson Chandler from Nugs: With McGee now the unquestioned starter & their incomprehensible love affair with Mozgov, don't think they'd want Asik. Plus with Gallo out the first part of next season (at least) & Brew probably leaving, don't see them letting Ill-Will go. Jeff Green from Celts: I don't most people think his contract is a joke, but I think he'd be a better fit than either Anderson (never been real high on him). What do you think Boston would want for him?
he also makes alot of bonehead plays like josh smith. Let see if your theory is true by looking at smiths stats this season
Ryan Anderson is most appealing here... as well as Bosh but that may be a pipe dream. Bosh is definitely on the decline and has been pretty much downranked to the role of a stretch four who isn't a good shooter but idk if they would give him up for Asik. Yep. Hard to tell if Morey was telling the truth there or just keeping his cards close to his chest. I mean what is he supposed to say, "yes a good power forward is definitely necessary, and if it means getting rid of Asik by all means we are going to do so"? I don't think so.
Seems like most of the guys who could help us now are unavailable at a price we would be willing to spend in trade assets(Anderson, Bosh) or just plain unavailable(Love, Bosh, now Smith). Ilyasova would be a nice grab, but I don't think he is available either. If I'm Morey I would be inquiring with Miami about Rashard Lewis although it's doubtful they would let his super cheap contract go. Not that Lewis could be a 30+ minute a night guy anymore, but I could see our big rotation being a time share of a couple of guys with 20+ minutes a night along with Dwight playing full starter minutes. ...otherwise, you look for a specialist who maybe is terrible in every other category but can be a stretch 4 and of course there is always the "comb the euro leagues" strategy where bigs often have better range than their US counterparts. Otherwise, similar to the strategies to acquire Harden & Howard, cap flexibility+trade assets WILL eventually net you what your looking for.
Milwaukee just gave Zaza Pachulia $16M for 3 years, so I doubt they will be interested in Asik for Ilyasova with him and Sanders. Would have to be another team involved, I'd imagine.
Well if we do end up keeping Asik count me among the 2 people who is excited to see Dmo and Tjones get minutes.
Am I the other person? There was a post earlier that said D-Mo has been really training hard and impressing this off-season. I'm a big fan of T-Jones. His athleticism is through the roof and if he can solidify his outside shot, and work on taking people off the dribble, he's gonna be great. We got flexibility with Asik still in the fold and with these two fighting and training hard, I would be surprised if the 4 spot is actually a strength for us this year.
You mean isn't a strength? Then I agree. Essentially we have 6 players that can play the 4. D-MO Jones G.Smith Howard with Asik @ C Parsons with Garcia @ 3 Casspi
is Kevin love a possibility? i know that he's not going to resign in Minnesota and maybe he can force a trade. man, with him and D12 together, no one's getting an offensive rebound against them, and Kevin's the perfect 3-shooting 4 the team needs.
Man, with his back issues I would stay away from him. We passed on him in the draft a couple times, likely for that reason. Dude was a beast in college but don't see him as a good stretch, since that's what everyone thinks we need. I like T-Jones better than Sullinger anyway. Sully doesn't really have range to be a stretch imo.
What a great idea!!! I'm 99.9% sure that's never been suggested or talked about, ever. I'm sure Minnesota would be willing to let him go for something like a couple of point guards. I just wish I would've thought of him myself. Kevin Love...plain as day. Kudos sir, you are a true visionary.
I know we deal with them all the time, but I would really like Jason Thompson from Sacramento on this team. 11PPG and 7RPG in 27MPG last season. He's young...athletic...can hit a mid range jumper...and I think we be thrilled to be the starting PF in a situation like Houston. Asik for Thompson/Jimmer??
