If we're signing O'Neal, then I have to think Asik's being traded. Otherwise a very pointless move given our numbers at the PF/C spot.
This has nothing to do with getting rid of D-Mo. He isn't going anywhere unless it's in a deal for a big star.
I'm assuming this is for the vet min and we're going to use him for the practice squad. Anything more than that then we're wasting a roster space.
Think Miami Heat. You can't have a starting lineup filled w max players and not look for bench-role bargains. I don't care for JOneil either, but if he's dirt cheap and can give us 10min/game, and we're giving up Asik, then we have to play someone, and GSmith isn't it yet.
While I'd expect something near the vet min, Oneal has been pretty solid as of late. Especially good on the defensive end for the minutes he was given. Of probably try to nab Brand, but Oneal is still a very capable backup center.
I don't know why you guys are ragging on O'neal, he played really well last season, at times he played better than Gortat. I think he'd be a great pick up.
I'd take oneal. He would make a really good back up center. I'd sign oneal and trade Asik for a really good scorer to come off the bench. Preferably a vet.
If we amnesty a player, can we get him back? I was talking about Luis "scoop" Scola. He would be a good 4 to go with Dwight.
