Lin is definitely starter quality. He was basically relegated as a second playmaker and spot up shooter (which I think was actually good because it helped him work on his weaknesses) and still put up respectable numbers. He'd probably be a at the very least a 15 and 7 guy on his own team (or at least without a ball dominant SG). And what sources said that all NBA GMs view him as a backup? One guy Ric Bucher? Come on. And even if that was true as long as Morey aka the best and smartest GM thinks he is starter quality, then that's fine. As far as who should start goes, Lin is much better than Bev but I could understand your points on why Lin should lead the bench. I just don't think Harden could or should have to be the primary play maker and scoring option. It's just too overwhelming. And there's just not enough evidence to suggest Bev can create any type of substantial scoring opportunities, whether for himself or for others. Lin, on the other hand, can as he was doing it this year in Houston and last year in NYK. And now with the best inside finisher in the game on the team, I wanna see what Lin could do. Besides, Lin has continually improved in his shooting and one of his biggest objectives this off-season was to better his long range shooting. And while Bev is also sure to improve, it is much easier to improve your shot than it is to improve actual play making. Lin just has a better feel for the game and more of a natural point guard. Beverley is more aggressive and better rebounder. I like Lin as still the starter with Bev continuing to bring hustle and energy off the bench, what he does best.
I was being sarcastic kitiki, you can be a fan through whatever means you please! It's nobodies business to judge how you become a fan of a sport/team, as long as people are objective in how they evaluate players. Personally though I made my account because alot of people were talking mad sh$%t about Morey, just wanted to preach patience lol. You see the problem is you're actually saying potato.
despite the mistreatment received from some posters on here, some with a tad bit of racism (I can cite examples), I'm actually staying despite Lin. Why? I started to like the team and some posters on this site actually post with logic, objectivity, and stats.
Oh I know, i wasn't directing that post to you. I wasn't misconstruing your post or reading and replying to it with negativity. I was just saying is all
fair enough. Thread bookmarked though, to make sure you keep your word and stay after Lin is traded ... I'll be watching. I don't like when people lie to me.
fair enough as well. See, compromise and finding common ground is always so much easier than tribalistic shouting matches.
Asik will not be backup for Howard. You as asking one of the top 5 center to back up the number 1 center. It is not going to happen. Beside, Asik still has room for improvement. Who know how good he can be in 2 more seasons
exactly, that bench would be damn strong and we would have no drop off, while Harden and Howard are resting. Lin would still play starter minutes but only difference is the time he comes into the game we saw what the heavy minutes did to Harden late in the season and playoffs. He should only be playing around 36 minutes average IMO. Being a bench player has too much of a negative connotation to it. I think we should be open to having one of our better player (4th? best player on our team) to come off of the bench ala James Harden (OKC), Ginobli, and Jack. It doesn't mean that Bev is better than Lin, just more beneficial to the team to have our guys spread apart in the game, as there is only ONE ball. Of course let Lin finish the game. There's too much bickering with who's better Lin or Bev, and I certainly didn't want to discuss about that, but I guess it's almost impossible when Lin is so pulverizing as a player.
Actually it is highly possible on this site as there are still many rational people, who form opinions based on facts, you just have to screen some of them manually.
