He said they would experiment too. Which means they will experiment with it and I think the experiment wil work in some situations for limited minutes. So yes I think you will see Howard and Asik on the floor together.
Answers to questions: 1. Nope. 2. Nope. 3. Doubt it. 4. Yep. I don't think one summer will help Asik suddenly develop any sort of midrange jumper. His footspeed might be solid against the David Wests or the Tim Duncans of the league, but the Love/LMA/JSmith/Dirks of the league are going to feast. I doubt he wants to switch; the 5 is his natural position. He isn't versatile enough, because physical constraints. Lastly, he'll clog it up for sure. But like another poster said, Howard can easily be the 4, while Asik is the stalwart at 5.
D12 average 15-18 per game, thats right up there with other scoring C today. Plus we have Harden, Parsons and Lin do the scoring. As long as both D12 and Asik space properly or know how to set up a hard pick, I would not worry about offense too much.
My point exactly. What if we can not move Asik, then we have no choice but to give a long hard look at the twin towers during the training camp.
So your saying that the starting line up for rockets is this C- Omer Asik PF - Dwight Howard SF - Parsons SG- Harden PG - Lin
I liked the idea at first but the luxury of a back-up Center of his caliber will prove to be huge. Remember how bad we were when Asik was not on the court, no more!! Asik cannot handle the PFs, neither can Dwight so no. TJ or D-Mo can handle it
Asia will be traded. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But I believe HOU has enough leverage to wait for an offer they really feel is best for Asik, one of few productive big men in the game
Neither Asik nor Howard have the necessary range to spend much time at the PF position. A further deterrent is neither one has much of a post up game. Playing them together would yield a lineup that is much less than the sum of its parts.

Doubt we see them in the lineup together very often if ever. 5mpg is too much. Asik will not finish out his contract as a Rocket, there's no way.
I have seen enough of Asik down low and Asik playing up high to be very sure that he is much better operating at the high post than the low post. He sees the floor incredibly well, is very good at finding cutters up high and if overplayed, he's got the one-dribble drive to the hole. All those things are much preferable to Mr. Fumblina down in the low blocks. Oh, and he does have a set jump shot. It's just gotta be used and developed. Now...Dwight, on the other hand...strictly low post. I don't want to ever see him shooting jumpers. What for? He has to continue to get better on the blocks. Defensively??? You hvae got to be kidding me if you think Dwight is more mobile on the perimeter than Asik or that he could play the PFs defensively. Absolutely no way. But Asik is a dog. He'll dog the stuffings out of them on the perimeter. Sure, some of the smaller 4s will dribble past him. Guess what's waiting for them inside? Dwight is your low block paint player on both ends of the floor. Asik is the dawg that you ask to stretch himself and become more. Because he's just that kind of player. Minute distribution? No way does McHale dog Dwight out with 35+ minutes a night. Dwight will get 30. That leaves Asik with 18 at the 5. Throw in another 5-10 minutes a night at the 4. I am glad to see that we are not going to rush to trade Asik out of here. I want to see what he develops into this season playing in space. As crazy as that sounds I think he can play the 4. And if he can play the 4...he might become a hall-of-famer. Just think about it for a minute. IF Asik could knock down the 18 footer and IF he can defend the PF position, you've got the extra large version of Rasheed Wallace playing in space alongside Dwight. And if he can't play the 4...well wait to trade him until we can get max value back for him.
D12 is athletic enough to be a 4, and quick enough to defense. The question is mid range jumper, and his willingness.
No! Asik is too stiff for a 4 but Dwight could play a 4 on the Rockets. ie: Sampson and Hakeem. (not quite that good). Y
Asik can be a great PF He does all the things that a good PF should do. Plays great defense, rebounds extremely well and he is big enough to match up with anyone. What am I missing, why even try to get another PF if Asik is willing to give it a go?
