I love Asik but if we have Howard then we don't really need him. So I think we should trade him for a suitable starter PF. We also need 3 point shooters and good perimeter defenders! Let Morey do some magic.
Covington signed with Rockets right away after draft day. Didn't knew we signed some busted player named Casspi
Bring in Jermain O'neal as a backup Center if we lose Asik. He already has a history of helping rockets wins games might as well be in a rockets uniform this time
we need an above-the-rim perimeter player who can finish over the top in the halfcourt when the offense stagnates
We need to allow things to manifest on their own schedule instead of rushing to fill needs. Luckily Morey and Co. know this. We'll fill out the roster with defense and shooters and bide our time until we land our next big fish.
It's true. Royce could drive like you read about. Unfortunately he was driving cars to games he'd never play in instead of to the rack. He's probably geeked about his car ride to Philly. Is anyone else just the tiniest bit curious to see his Philly press conference? I picture an empty chair next to a Royce White name plate.
What about Thaddeus Young at the 4? We could do a 3 team trade sending Asik to Portland, Wes Matthews and Greg Smith to Philly, and Thaddeus Young + Lavoy Allen to Houston.
Ironic that you want to get rid of a young PG for Billups, who played for 5 different teams in his first 5 years in the nba...all it took was some stability in Detroit for him to develop into an All Star.
I didn't say we should trade away any point guard in my post. Billups would be here to help them out. If you are referring to what I said about Lin in the other thread, how can he even compare to a young Billups?? Billups was # 3 overall, IIRC. He eventually developed into an all star, not simply because he was young and needing stability, but also because he was a highly talented player.
3rd star/semi-star. Look, the truth is, with Morey at the helm, the Rockets have no dire need for anything minor. He can always pull random players from out of nowhere to fit a specific need. But the Rockets, as currently constructed with basically everyone returning, 1 year older, and added Dwight Howard, is ~55-60 team and likely a 2-4 seed(pending SA potential decline). If we want to truly want to be the favorite in the west, we still need one more player. I am desperately hoping LMA and/or Love having lots of issues with their current teams, so the Rockets can swoop in and get one of them.
If were talkin bout a veteran leader who can 3-D then the answer is clear... Shane Battier. Not happening, but it would be great to have him back right about now...
1. A power forward with offensive skills, range, and at least decent on defense and the boards. 2. A lock down wing defender. We're set at all the other roles.
This, Morey is not going to overpay for a free agent that doesn't fit in a panic win-now move (ala Carlos Boozer or the myriad of Danny Ferry/Otis Smith panic signings to keep LBJ and Dwight from leaving). Morey will wait till the right player at the right price becomes available. He's also not going to trade Asik for fifty cents on the dollar. As a backup Asik would be marginally overpaid, but not so much that he must be traded right away. Eventually a team that needs a big man will make us a great offer.
We need 6th man like Menu: s&T Manta Ellias (perhaps Lin + future draft pics); We need defensive sf/sg to defense players like Lebron
