I knew he would pay dividends for us when the trade happened. Check my posting history...this guy has always been able to play, but has never been given a decent platform. In many ways, I feel bad for Carlos. His play-making skills, shooting and confidence are elements for a championship team. I don't think he will settle for a huge paycut after having one of the best seasons of his career.
I am a huge Morey fan, but you are giving him too much props. There was no way Morey expected Garcia to be a huge part of this time and also predict that Garcia would resign on the cheap. Garcia was 100% a trade filler - pretty much an expiring contract with that team option. T-Rob was seen as an easier asset to trade if we ever needed the extra space in our salary cap.
They play different roles. Garcia is the cagey two-way spark. Delfino was the artillery off of the bench.
This is inaccurate. Morey was not after Garcia. He was after the potential in Trob and possibly as a trading piece. For those of you that didn't know Garcia, his scoring and leadership came out of nowhere. For those of us that followed him, we knew what he would bring to the table. Garcia earned another contract with us, but he wasn't really the main part of Morey's trade. And yes, it still was a mistake to trade PatPat for Trob in a playoff year. We could have signed Garcia either way. The Dwight signing alleviates that trade, but PatPat would have made a HUGE difference against the Thunder. Morey has brought 2 top ten players to the Rockets, but if we're completely honest, he has definitely made his share of terrible acquisitions.
Wow, I never thought Garcia would return for that cheap. He deserved way more than that amount based on his performance in the postseason.
I agree with only the first half of your post. We weren't going to win a championship regardless if we had PatPat or not. Patterson's contract wasn't expiring, and TRob is easier to dump to another team than Patterson if we needed cap space. We actually got a decent haul out of TRob from Portland, and we had couple of months to try out a top five draft pick I think Morey has done a great job, but yes, he made some bad decisions. TRob was not one of them. Royce White? Yes. Joey Dorsey? Yes. Jermaine Taylor? Yes. Terrence Williams? Yes.
Well being honest i was over exaggerating, but regardless how do we definitively know that he wasn't capable of scoring and being a leader
The difference with Morey and his mistakes is that he doesn't sit on them. Once it becomes apparent that things don't work out, Morey typically corrects it ASAP.
