Something to think about. Our window to make something happen may be shorter than we think.

This "opt out" was expected! All stars are doing this. Just allows Howard to get in another deal before the CBA/TV deal gets redone.

Don't worry Rockets fans. He is here for the long haul.

Don't think I view it as being a shorter window.

I see it more as Howard wanting to be in a position to sign a new contract with full Rockets bird rights (3 years) so he can make up some of the $30M and 1 year he gave up when he left LA.

I fully expect Dwight to decline the option at the end of year 3 so he can negotiate a new contract at a higher salary and more years assuming he wants to stay.

At the opt out he can sign here for the max-max (the 5 year deal that LA offered him).

By 3 years from now, the Rockets should know what they have... either a contender with a core superstar that's dominant for years to come, or a has-been player that never got back to where he was in Orlando that is overpaid and needs to be dealt or cut ties with.

It's something to definitely take into consideration going forward. Too early to know if it's something to worry about. It could turn out to benefit only one side or both.

I hope DH12 is a Rocket rest of career. Opt out is no big deal, he can sign a 5 yr deal after with Rox

Les need to bring out all the profits he stored away during the Yao era. We made a handy profit each and every year, now he needs to bring it all out so we can go all in to compete!! Its now or never!!

Totally expected. He's not interested in leaving, he's here for the long haul and will re-sign for five years after opting out. He and Harden will be here for almost the next decade.

It will be fine. Morey will make the right moves to win now. I don't see Morey just stopping at Howard.... he'll bring in more vets.

Nothing unexpected. Do well and he will surely resign.

we all knew this, we'll resign for the max at the end of the 3rd year. that was our selling point to him that he will make more money with us
