I wouldn't mind just keeping Lin and Asik

I'm all for keeping Asik, but better PGs are easier to find than Cs so if we wanted to upgrade at another position, you'd think Lin's contract would have to be included in that trade.

Nobody will take his contract. That's it.

why would you assume the Bev would overtake Lin? Lin is the better player by far. his playmaking is extremely important to our team. Bev can be a nice sparkplug, but he really doesn't make anyone around him better, nor does he get other people a ton of scoring opportunities.

Good post. You crystalized the argument right there. #2 is the biggest winner for me. I'm scared of Greg Smith as our backup C. That will be as true with Howard starting as Asik. Asik is really freakin' valuable!

Why does a 6th man have to be offensively oriented? At his price, can't we consider Asik to be a defensive 6th man anchoring the bench? I bet he would impact wins more than any other 6th man in the league.

Lin and Asik were the only two starters who played every game during the regular season, and they're a big reason why the team even made the playoffs. Moving both would change the core dramatically and lose any chemistry that's already been developed. The combination of Lin's knee strength recovery, adapting to a new role, and lack of truly talented Big men are the main reasons why his production was lower than expected. Each of these has now been addressed and given time to improve, so it's very possible we might see a positive difference next season, and the front office probably realizes this.

Asik not wanting to come off the bench is understandable. Lin wouldn't mind coming off the bench (e.g., if he were backing up Nash), but I doubt he wants to back up Beverley. Bev's playoff "success" against OKC had more to do with a lack of Westbrook than actually being good. In any case, Rockets management is now torn between shipping Lin & Asik off and getting a 3rd star vs. wanting to keep Lin to see how he performs alongside Dwight.

I'm on board. Unfortunately, Omer is not, it seems.

Yup. One or the other has to go. We'd be way over the cap the next year and I wouldnt want to be a backup if I were starter quality. It would be easier to move asik than lin.

Just keep both of them. It's not our money anyway.

Just asking, if Morey brings J.Smith,
how can the Rockets keep Parsons when there is a team offering him the max. contract 2 years later?

dubious sources. DocRocket has tweeted that Omer is cool with everything, not upset at all.

If you're a player who likes to win, you'd like to be on the Rockets right now.

What I love about the idea of keeping Omer is that it could lessen the overall workload on Howard, making him less of an injury risk and more fresh in the postseason.

Idk Morey may not want to trade them but I'm sure they are being shopped and if the right deal crosses moreys desk he will jump on it
