I'm not sure what this fascination with the stretch 4 is all about. Hakeem won with Thorpe as his PF who couldn't shoot outside of 10 feet. It's all about the chemistry between the PF and C. JSmooth is a very good passer in the low post and moves well without the ball. As long as Howard commands the double the cutting lanes for dunks will be there. While Smith major weakness may be shooting, so was Rodman's weakness when he helped the bulls with his hustle defense and rebounding, all the things we would get from Smith with his scoring not really being needed on one of the highest scoring teams in the league.

Ugh. Remember when he said Dallas and Houston were the frontrunners and he thought Mavs was in the lead? Dallas was the first team DH12 told that he was no longer considering. How does he still have a job?

Does anyone know if Asik really wants to leave? Has this been confirmed?

Can't see anderson happening because Asik way way > Anderson

Can't really see Josh Smith happening because he would require > 15m
    Asik+Lin > J.Smith

Morey did say a 3 days ago in his 790 radio interview (after the Dwight meeting) that Lin and Asik were NOT AVAILABLE. Furthermore, Asik would play back-up to Dwight with experimental minutes of them both on the floor at the same time. NBA reporting is less than reliable at the moment and I would tend to trust what comes directly from Morey more than a tweet with an unknown source.

I'm very interested to see how the Rockets will play Dwight and Asik together.
Number one and two rebounders in the league and both rim protectors. Defensively, we could be the best team in the league. Offense, not so sure.

Even if Morey planned on shopping Lin and Asik to every team in the league right after that interview he still would have said they were not available.

Imagine having a defensive tandem of Parsons and Smith being thrown at Durant and LeBron? Oo boy, watch out.

exactly why smith is better. anderson might be better during the regular season, but reg season does not matter anymore. its all about the playoffs and in a 7 game series

While this would give us a really good defense on the inside, the new "stretch 4's" would give us fits. As far as what Morey was saying on the radio, he does SOUND convincing, but more than likely he's going to want to put that out there to keep Asik's stock up. The more other teams think we would be ok with keeping Asik the higher the price tag. Trust me Morey's little evil genius mind is at work.

This is what I'm thinking also. We have to find a way to get past OKC in the west and trying to outscore them with Anderson seems like a much harder task than trying to slow them down with Smith.

Smith is not worth 15m, more like 12m. Should just need Asik plus another guy to do the trade.

(Asik + Ohlbrecht) x 1.5 equals around $13.6 million. That should be enough to get the deal done. But after seeing what Millsap signed for that seems pricey. His market is around 4 years, $40 million. I can see the Rockets paying 4 years, $45 million.

I wrote 15m because that's what he turned down from the hawks.
    He made 13.2m last season.

If you think he'll sign on the Rockets for 12m, that's your opinion and I can accept that. The 15m figure I put out there wasn't being too unreasonable I think.

If he signs for 12m as you say, we only need to do a straight up trade with Asik (8.3) using the 150% trade matching rule.

i think he is worth more than that. at least 4 years and $52 M

"ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports that the Atlanta Hawks offered Josh Smith a three-year contract in excess of $45 million before the start of the season"

    http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2013/4/14/4223096/josh-smith-nba-free-agency-atlanta-hawks

ellis looks like a fool for not accepting 2 years and 22 M extension from the bucks though...

Too bad 2pat had to relearn what rebounding meant every time he went on the floor.

    Plus 2pat wasn't a true stretch 4, his 3pter was shaky.

I think the goal is in the range of Smith for $12m and Jack for $6m and then the young guys might be used for a backup center, like the disgruntled camby.

But how do they find that trading only $16.7m? Who says Dwight is taking the max.....certainly not this guy

    Keep Terrence Jones

    Granted these are only projections...
Josh Smith is great but T Jones might become a better shooting version of Smith. A 4 who can knock down elbow jumpers and free throws. Comparable defensively. Body composition and age tip the balance toward T Jones. Start the kid and forget about Josh Smith.
