Andersen would make us nasty on offense.

We were the #1 or #2 offense last year. How far did that get us? Where did we rank in defense? Look it up, and it will become obvious what are primary need is.

True, but how do you feel about your 4 and 5 both shooting FT's in 50 % range. Exactly.

uh, Dwight Howard remedies ALL OF THAT. the primary reason we sucked on defense was because we played 100% on offense, at a frenetic pace. Now that we slow it down, our guys will have more energy to expend on defense. Dwight Howard wasn't a 3 times DPOY by luck.

    he is that good, defensively.

it'd be like having having DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin at the ft line.

    that's terrifying

But he would also make us absolutely disgusting on defense.

so what do you want, someone who can't shoot but can defend

or someone who can shoot, and actually complements Dwight's game?

No, no he wouldn't. Not when he has Dwight Howard right next to him. Try again.

I dont feel great about that at all. But I could live with that shortcoming better than only having 2 starters that defend well (Dwight & Parsons).

How come Anderson missed almost 1/4 of the season his first four years? Does he have injury issues?

    Yes and no.

Yes he is that good. But no, he cant do it by himself.

If you think we are going to morph into a slowed down halfcourt offense, I got news for you.

Our poor defense wasnt predicated on guys being tired every game. Its based on the skillset of players on the floor.

Anderson's the perfect fit with Dwight, and he's a lot cheaper than Smith (which is definitely a bonus). I'd hate to have to deal with an Asik-Davis frontcourt in the same division though.

If we could get a 2nd round pick too, that would be great. We need cheap role players, and we know how good Daryl is with 2nd rounders.

I think you forget how good Asik was at defense, and despite that, how poor we were as a team on defense. While Dwight is a better defender than Asik, that difference by itself wont transform us from poor to good, much less great.

Your only considering one half of the floor in this assessment.

And I think you forget what I was referring to. He said that an Anderson signing would make us "absolutely disgusting" on defense. That's just not true at all.

Need more than a 2nd round pick. I'm thinking lottery protected 1st.

Ryan Anderson actually fits that stretch 4 that we have been looking for. Just need the joker to attack the boards. That was Stan problem with him in Orlando.

Fair enough. But Anderson certainly wont make us better at defense either.
