Best way to assess Millsap and others at his level is - "Depends on PRICE" He's certainly one of the better players at his position. But also one of those 3rd option types that can get overpaid like 1st options. *EDIT* To unnecessary clarify "Depends on Price" - Of COURSE EVERY good player who only signs for $2 mil is VALUE and EVERYONE would be okay with that. Even much criticized players like Pau Gasol, if he was available for vet minimum, CLUTCHFANS would BE ALL OVER THAT. EVERY TEAM in the league would be blowing up the phones to get him. But its those players who are fringe All-Stars, or those who have the "potential" label, those are the types that can get paid LIKE All-Stars and overvalued.

What a boneheaded move by the Jazz. I know they cant keep Favors, Kanter and Milsap but just letting him walk?
To be fair, were they going to get more than 2 1st rounders (and some 2nd rounders) in a Millsap sign and trade?
Eat that Mcgrady. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/HCiHOpNJXnc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> He's a solid player though. You guys wouldn't take him at 7-8 million per year?
Alex Kennedy @AlexKennedyNBA The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to a contract with Paul Millsap, source confirms.
Brian Windhorst @WindhorstESPN The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to terms on a 2-year deal with Paul Millsap sources tell ESPN.
Compared to Josh Smith's possible worth, that's good value for Atlanta. Even better for them how its just a 2 year deal. "Expiring contract" don't seem as valuable in the league now. But its still just short term commitment instead of a multi-year cap killing contract. The "Moreyball" treat-everyone-as-assets approach, while cold, its is seemingly having its benefits now. Warriors bloated up their payroll, Rockets didnt Winner: Rockets.
If he took 4/38, that would be even better. i suspect he prefered two years and then try to get more. I'm surprised he was so cheap. I think a lot of teams screwed up. The Hawks might actually be a better team next year after this. If they get Asik too, they will have the best big men rotation in the East.
Still rather trade Asik for picks to someone with cap space and sign Milsap. With no taxes I think the contract would be the same. Then you have Milsap, less salary and a pick(s) which I think beats S&T Smith.
