I loved the "aired on tv" order. The non-linear plot delivery fits in with the Haruhi universe, in which the implausible seems to happen all the time. Watch it this way first, and then watch it in chronological order afterwards.
well I watched the first season this way... the second season was mostly in order with the exception of a few I about lost it during the endless eight, by the time I made it to the 6th one I wanted to skip to the last!! I have three episodes left right now
Hayesfan, there's a new anime about to air called Free! that may be your kind of thing. It's about 5 dudes that swim together lol. Looks like it's mostly an eye candy and fanservice for women. There's some pretty interesting animes for the summer of 2013. So far it's dog and scissors and servantXservice for me. Finishing up The pet girl of sakurasou and the world only God knows. Attack on titan is still anime of the year for me even though they've been short on animators and the art is not on part as the first 6 episodes.
I'll have to check it out. I've been watching all old stuff since I started, pretty much. I keep telling myself that I should see what new stuff is coming out, but there is so much I've missed I want to catch up first. I am watching the Disappearance of Haruhi Muzuyami right now.. it's actually really good so far.. I think I have like a half hour left.. longest darn animated movie I have ever seen!!
Understandable, I was actually going to watch that series, but when I was looking at episode screenshots, it looked too all over the place and disorganized, I opted not to watch it. I've read plenty of good things about it though.
I would definitely recommend it. But I would say watch it in chrono order if it intimidated you before. It made me think... Which is saying something about an anime series. It's rather well written. The movie was really good as well. It's more cerebral/sci fi than a romance... With some goofiness thrown in. Now I'm watching one on Hulu called hanagai... Basically I think the Japanese title is bokura something something about not making friends. It's okay so far....More a harem/slice if life/romance than anything else. As always with some fan service shots of teenage girls panties thrown in...
There should be warning labels for anime that end on a cliffhanger with no new episodes planned... It's so wrong!!!! Now I can't sleep because I want to know the ending!
That's a big turnoff for me when I watch anime. I don't read manga and I like closure. It's gotta end the way it's suppose to (looking at you Elfen Lied)...
That one is on my list too! I need to consult atheistpreacher before I start a new one to see if it has an ending or not!
Nice, I'm following AoT myself and enjoying every minute of it. Episode 14 is a flashback/filler episode and the new arc starts at 15. Hopefully they at least add new info instead of all repeats. I'm pretty excited to say the least.
If you're happy with what you're watching now, you should definitely pay attention for what's to come. I'm caught up on the manga, and I can guarantee you things get 10x more insane and intense. The manga is actually REALLY entertaining. Better artwork than the typical Big 3 (OP, Naruto, Bleach), the chapters are anywhere from 50-200 pages, and there's a good mix of action and dialogue.
Yup, I've finished My teen romantic comedy SNAFU, gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, Arata the Legend, Henneko: the hentai prince and the Stony Cat, Devil Survivor 2: The Animation of the spring edition and I've picked up most of Crunchyroll exclusive and simulcast for the summer of 2013. Hopefully they don't disappoint. I've spoiled myself on some very important details/arcs that I kind of get the general idea of what's to come. I still get excited nonetheless. I would love to eventually read the manga, but they do seem to entertain me as much for some reason. Maybe for my lack of imagination?
Actually, I don't remember the ending of Elfen Lied being that bad. They do leave it on a bit of a cheap cliffhanger, but it was after they'd pretty much resolved everything else first. I've seen much worse. For me, Gundam Seed was the worst because there was basically no wrap-up at all to contextualize everything that had happened. It left me going "so what"?
so I just finished Pet Girl of Sakura Hall... now I'm on to Kimi Ni Todoke Pet girl better have another season. it looks like there is the material for another season and it just finished the last one in March. Some of these high school stories are cheesy but for the most part the writing is pretty good... though I have come to the conclusion that the anime that is based on manga go through way more rewrites than they should. The exception being Ouran. If Ouran was going to move forward, I wouldn't have liked the changes they made to the anime, but since it was only the one season it made sense to make the final three episodes so different from the manga. Is it typical that they change the story lines so drastically from manga to anime. I mean I understand small changes, but we are talking big character development changes in some of them.
Not to the extend I'm following Attack on Titan. I usually watch AoT by the time the weekend ends. I have a few other Episode 1 downloaded but haven't really been motivated enough to start them. Last season I followed Psycho Pass very closely too.
Dang girl, you work fast. Took me like 2-3 weeks to finish sakurasou. I agree, it does need a new season. That darn cat interrupted the kiss, 2 new inhabitants, married Jin x Misaki. Lots of material they have to work with. I was actually glad they kept misaki a main character and not a recurring one. She's one of my favorites in the show. I don't read manga so it's very hard for me to say. When I watch an anime that's how I usually think it is in the manga until I read about the wiki to find its different. I think most changes are because of # of episodes they have to work with to cover lots of material so they have to condense it and when anime gets caught up to an ongoing manga they have to make up their own Stuff to release.
I've heard good things about Gargantia, but when I look at previews, it doesn't look like something I want to watch. Heard good things about Psycho Pass too, but again I look at the previews and I just never get around to watching it. I've just been watching anime movies of late. Berserk, Evangelion (3rd film looked amazing, but wtf man?) and Cyborg 009 movies. There haven't been any series that have piqued my interest of late (besides Attack on Titan). I'm like you, dback816, no motivation to start anything, because everything looks mediocre. If you guys/gals have some recommendations, I'm all for it. I'll probably look into your list RocketsRed
