There are too many inaccuracies in this post to even begin to address. The tweet about the drinking session was an obvious joke. There has been an entry published about how the Warriors clearing cap space is not necessarily tied to Dwight. Also, there have been many, many reports that Dwight is interested in Houston as a destination.
Obviously, the longer this drags out, the worse it looks for the Rockets. If he announces today, the odds are in our favor. If he waits through the weekend, you wonder if he is trying to give the Warriors a chance to clear cap or form a sign and trade. If he leaves the Lakers, though, he needs to get out of California for his own good, though. If he goes to Golden State, I don't think they're instant contenders like we are. They'd have to get rid of at least one or two young quality players, you'd think. Their team would then resemble, to me, Orlando from his days there.
This sign-and-trade to the Warriors is all being generated by the Lakers. They know they've lost him. They're staring at him walking to Houston for nothing or accepting a sign-and-trade with Houston. So.....throw out sign-and-trade to GS and hope they can turn tricks and generate a S&T that gets the Lakers a young star (Barnes or Thompson) and gets Dwight to agree to go to GS instead of Houston?? This is what is going on and it is why there is all this smoke in the air with GS and why GS is trying to jump through hoops to generate trades. If GS can move Bogut to Utah for nothing and then trade David Lee for nothing, they can generate a S&T sending Barnes or Thompson to LAL and be under the apron at the same time. However it is going to cost them Bogut, Lee, and Barnes at least and it remains to be seen if they can find a taker for either Bogut or Lee who wouldn't send back salary or demand more of GS's young talent. Lakers are generating the Golden State buzz because they know they are out of it and they are trying to maximize Dwight's departure in the best way possible. It's between us and Golden State and where Dwight wants to go.
Barnes has a much higher upside than Parsons, Thompson is still young and has shown flashes of being a decent two way player, They alo have David Lee who is also a very good offensive player. They would probably have to give up Barnes in a Sign And Trade Scanario though.
^ Agreed Warriors had two more wins than us last season, true, but they never had as much upside. I think the Rockets finish above GSW this season even if Dwight stays with the Fakers.
I don`t know if I would go that far - they have tons of potential - but Houston has the capspace to get another major player. It is very possible, that we exchange Asik and a young player for Josh Smith. That would mean we`d have 3 proven stars with Howard - GS would have 2 with him and 2 young players with potential (if they can even keep them). Supporting cast around them is pretty on par with Parsons, Lin, Beverly and perhaps Smith and Moti/Jones. The thing is: GS is a team full of 3pt shooters. Howard loves that. If he goes there, this will be the reason (and the proximity to LA). But there are lots of areas of concern. He would get the lowest money there, there is a lot of injury concerns and he is banking on potential of young players... he could have it a lot easier and safer (and richer) in Houston, where there is also much better marketing potential (China).
I'd take Parsons over Barnes (now & future) Thompson is Kevin Martin clone. He has a decent streak of games & disappears. Still young however.
Dwight had a party in Aspen last night, It's 9:30 in Aspen now and a 2 hour flight to Houston. do the math
why do people have to come up with all these conspiracy theories. Dwight really is as indecisive as he seems to be. I doubt even he knows where he's going yet.
