even if the lakers end up using the amnesty clause on bogut, the net value is barnes for $21 M for 3 years because GS will have to include the $3 M in the trade for d12. i think any GM would give barnes $21 M for 3 years. not to mention, draft picks in the bottom of the first round are usually sold for around $3 M. note: any GM who doesnt have an all star at SF. the lakers have no1 at SF currently
warriors already used their amnesty, but the lakers have not. lakers get bogut, barnes, draft picks, and cash in the sign and trade. lakers then amnesty bogut. net value is barnes for 3 years and $21 M. draft picks at the bottom of the first round usually are sold for $3 M

The Lakers can not use there amnesty clouse on Bogut. The clouse can only be used on players that were on the team and under their existing contracts at the time the CBA was signed.
Wait a second?! • A reliable reporter, is great at covering Dwight related news. • Warriors not going to be able to clear the contracts quick enough. • Rockets seemingly in the lead. Cue horrendously overused "It's Happening" GIF.
dawg, this dude better not be sleeping right now... Rockets fans aren't getting enough sleep because of this.
Lakers can't amnesty Bogut if traded. Man, I just can't see all that salary going to the Lakers, even if expirings, and expect the Lakers to pay luxury tax for a very average squad. GSW NEED to find a third team, preferably with space to take on their expirings. Basically like we did with T-Rob, people are going to offer peanuts on the dollar.
sorry, i did not know that. but, if im the GM of the lakers, i would agree to sign and trade d12 for bogut, barnes, 2014 1st draft pick, and $3.1 M in cash. i think that is a fair trade for both sides. barnes has $10 M and 3 years left on his contract. i believe any GM in the NBA who does not have an all star at SF would give him $20 M for 3 years easily. draft picks at the bottom of the first round are usually sold for $3 M. i would then amnesty artest to save on the taxes lineup of nash, bryant, barnes, gasol, bogut will still sell out on most nights at staples. again, that is what i would want if im the GM on the lakers. and i think it is a fair trade for both sides. not those crazy trade ideas
If it really came down to Dwight trying to force the Lakers into a S&T with Golden State, Morey could ultimately trump the Warriors' offer in a potential S&T anyway, IMO. The only legit threat in my mind is Dallas.
I think under most circumstances that might be a reasonable deal for both sides .... but this isn't most circumstances - this is the Lakers with Lebron possibly becoming a FA after the coming season. Barnes isn't the guy I'd be asking GS for if that was my goal in the summer of 2014. Any first round picks the Lakers take in return are virtually worthless ... I want one of Curry or Klay Thompson in return ... Neither play the same position as Lebron. Thompson , probably the more reasonable of the two would be under contract for the next two years , then be an RFA the following year. If Im helping a team in my division land a premium FA and making them a serious contender , I want a long term building block in return (and at a position that I don't expect to otherwise fill).
If it really came down to it, anyone but Harden. It's Dwight freaking Howard. Probably start with Omer, Bev & DMo and go from there. I don't think we'd have to give up Chandler to beat Golden State's offer (though personally, I also don't think Thompson or Barnes are anything more than 'meh' players).
I like how people play with money on here likes its monopoly money.... these owners (or their familys) didn't become rich by pissing away fortunes (in this case 10's of millions of dollars) to watch Andrew friggin Bogut sit on their bench injured (as he is prone to do)..... money does play a factor here people.
