The latter requires trading both because Dwight's salary is going to be significantly larger than Smith's market price. But the difference is not so huge that you wouldn't simply choose whichever one gets the job done to get Dwight Howard to Houston. Dwight vs. No Dwight is a huge difference. The reason you'd offer the Lakers the S&T is to make the Lakers less willing to S&T Dwight to GS for a cheap return. If the Lakers demand a higher price from GS, then maybe it will deplete GS's roster enough that Dwight wouldn't want to go there anymore.
Thompson is a SG, they have Kobe. I would assume they'd demand Barnes over Thompson, so they could let go of MWP.

Leaving LA and no decision has been made are 2 mutually exclusive decisions. All it really indicates is he hasn't made up his mind what team he likes best but he knows for sure it isn't the Lakers.
Thompson can play as a combo guard and Kobe is not going to be around forever. You can also use him as a super sub. The Lakers biggest need is shooters and hits the MDA game plan

Yep, it appears "X" on Lakersground is Cyberx. What they say "proved" he was legit is what I was saying proved he was legit to me at least... the way he was so adamant Dwight was going to L.A. last year. The fact many here say he's an admitted Laker fan (seems like I remember him saying this too) makes sense 'cause he posted THERE that as of 11PM PST the Lakers feel he is GONE. He didn't post that here... just that there may not be a decision tomorrow and Dwight was confused. Makes sense that he'd be more open, as a Laker fan, to share a little more and "cry with other Laker fans" a little by saying "he's gone".... yet, HERE - we're NOT "his people" - he just says there may not be a decision tomorrow. Following the guy who supposedly "knows what's up with GS"... he seems to feel it's all PR spin and GS isn't in AT ALL. Then, before going to bed claimed LA had contacted other teams not even on Dwight's list. Also said Hou was best choice but Dwight wouldn't make the smart choice 'cause he was a moron...lol.
