In any case Calderon is good with the taxpayer's MLE from any team to play with Dwight? Dunleavy did turn down a full MLE offer for the taxpayer's MLE from the Bulls.
Jesus, Bogut makes $14M, Barnes makes $2.9M. The minimum they add (even after amnestying Pau) is $3M over luxury tax. $14M + $2.9M + $3.5M = $20.4M That is without adjusting for the multiplier. How is it that you can't do this math? I never once said it was $20M in luxury tax. Did you not even read what you bolded in my post? Taking on those two costs them AT LEAST $20.4M that they would otherwise not have to spend. And if you consider the Lakers could try to trade Pau for little back or amnesty him without the GSW trade they really effectively limit their options and make them liable for another $5.25M that you pointed out. Dollars =/= luxury tax dollars. Those are different words and phrases.
Maybe I'm missing something, but would it really matter if we did a S&T with the Lakers if we could do one with Atlanta? At least Lin and/or Asik would be out of the west.
I call BS on the Warriors being able to dump all of their crap contracts without taking any money back. Come on. Why would they not have traded those chumps prior to July 4th? Bluff city.
If it gets to the point where we are talking Sign and Trades with the Lakers, that means Dwight has committed to Houston. We don't HAVE to do a Sign and Trade. This isn't up to the Lakers. This is up to Dwight.
S&T allows the Rockets to be players in the 2014 FA period. This would be the best case scenario for us.
Regarding this S+T Lin and Asik, does Morey really want to send them to Western Conf rival? Of course if the Lakers agree, we have much more cap space to play with. I see no real advantage for Lakers to do S+T with us if they'll get nothing back except additional salary.
Dwight to Golden State makes no sense for him. Taking less money, working with a depleted roster...Houston is a clear choice it's not even close. As far as LA, it's Hollywood and they still have the prestige and history. If Dwight doesn't land in Htown, he's staying in LA despite any reports out there plain and simple.
Why would we even entertain the idea of an SnT? Just more Laker biased media trying to give that ****hole team some hope.
In the wise words of Rachel Jeantel, this is just r****ded. Have you paid attention at all. The only reason the ROCKETS would even think about a S&T is to dump Lin's salary. The ROCKETS can sign Dwight without a S&T...how many times must it be posted?!
I believe this more than anything because Asik is a piece I can see a team wanting to trade for. I'm having a hard time believing Lin has that type of trade value.
I think Parsons being part of the pitch to bring him here (plus the dinners, advertisements, etc in LA) HAS to play a part in Dwight's decision. Parsons is his friend, as well as someone he'd want to play with. I can almost see Dwight wanting to sign here outright if it means the Rockets having to give up Parsons.
Parsons is one of the main reasons howard wants to come to houston in the first place! Our recruiting pitch came with the promise that he'd at least play with harden and parsons.
FWIW (probably not much), I have been following this Worse Than Cohan's dudes twitter feed for the last couple hours. Seems like a fairly well connected Warriors fan...and seems very down on GSW's chances: https://twitter.com/WorseThan_Cohan. Picked it up from earlier in this thread, think MadMax mentioned him.
