nba verbal deals between teams almost never get re-neged. You can't just say you'll do the deal then pull out. No team would ever deal with you again... And even though POR doesn't "need" Parsons, who wouldn't take the best assets they can get? POR isn't in a rush -- they needn't be. LMA has 2 yrs left, even if he wants out...they can take their time and get the best deal on the table for him.

My approach from day 1, is to act like WE'RE the KNICKS in 2010 in "Summer of Lebron". Act like WE'RE in that same bubble. The Knicks and FANS wre ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that they HAD LEBRON in the bag. All that cap space cleared, it was A SURE THING. And they "ONLY" came away with Amare Stoudemire.... Thats how its shaping out here. All this DWIGHT DERBY and assurances, and we'll probably just get Paul Millsap or Josh Smith out of it.
Warriors are too over the cap. If they want to make space they would have to trade Bogut AND Jefferson AND Biedrins. What teams have enough cap space right now?? I don't know even if there are more than three. Or some TE of that amount...

Well acquiring Bogut and Barnes essentially costs the Lakers $22-25M, not $14M because of the luxury tax and if Dwight goes to the Warriors without any top pieces leaving, the Warriors are a lock to be a top 5 team, so the pick would be borderline not worth having because the chances of it being a player are slim and the salary and holds are far great than an early 2nd.
I don't understand why it takes so long to sign with Houston... IMO, something is fishy. We aren't waiting on aything like GS or another team. You sign or you don't. So why is this so long...?
Freakin Daryl Morey doesn't know yet, and yet there are all these insiders claiming they do? hmmm....
We're under the assumption that Dwight WANTS to go to GSW, per all the rumors and stories on espn, etc. Obviously he isn't going for Bogut. Barnes is a part of it, but come on -- he'd be willing if all GSW loses is Bogut and Barnes. Barnes + Klay and I can see Dwight saying he doesn't want to go anymore. Even possibly losing David Lee makes him say that. But Bogut and Barnes? ...he'd sign I imagine, esp. if it is true that he does want to go there. Have his cake and eat it too.
If the Lakers move Pau, then they might as well move Kobe and Nash too. They wouldn't though. Their options are either to tank or make one last run at a championship, and they would be crucified if they trade Kobe, so it's doubtful they'll trade Pau for rebuilding purposes, as he is still their starting PF and one of their best players.
Didn't read the last 20-30 pages or so. Anything new other than Warriors trying to shop biedrins, jefferson, etc so they can sign Dwight?
The issue is with them paying the luxury tax this year, if they're only under the luxury for 1 year, next, they'd pay the repeater from there on out if their free agent plan came to fruition. Barnes and Thompson are quality roleplayers, but they're not worth up towards $50m in taxes and 20m in payroll short term andf potentially another $50m in taxes medium term, if they were willing to pay the taxes they wouldn't have left earl clark leave for scraps.
