Calderon can't defend a lick, rather have JSmoove from a trade of Lin and Asik. Than to give up Lin for Calderon and not attain Josh Smith
I hope Dwight picks Houston. But let's assume for a second he's chosen GSW if they can make cap space work. Perhaps we can turn lemons into lemonade by actually agreeing to FACILITATE the deal. Yes, I said it. Here's the rough gameplan: 1. Swap Lin ($8) for Bogut ($13), Lee ($13) & Thompson ($2) 2. GSW clears $20, and that plus loss of Jack & Landry in FA will allow them to sign Dwight 3. Rockets move Harden to PG, Thompson starts at SG, Lee starts at PF, and Asik/Bogut split C at 24min each 4. Rockets fill out roster with Garcia, Delfino Now we're looking at: Asik / Bogut / Smith Lee / Jones / D-Mo Parsons / Garcia / Covington Thompson / Delfino / Anderson Harden / Beverly / Canaan That is a deep, young team with improved offense & defense vs last yr. With Asik or Bogut always on the floor as rim protectors & rebounding machines, our defense s/b top 10, and by splitting minutes they'll see less wear & tear, and no need to worry about foul trouble. Also, Lee provides us w/ legit all-star quality & post-up option at the 4, and Thompson can serve as 40%, 3pt sharpshooter to score & spread the floor for us. And Bogut is expiring, so we'll retain flexibility to go after max player in 2014. I think this team finishes 2-5 in western conf, and we get to 2nd round or wcf. We won't win a ring w/ this team, but it helps us take the next big step, and Rockets will be a very attractive landing spot for '14 max FA. GSW won't like giving up Lee/Thompson, but they'd do it to get Dwight, and this may represent their best trade option. Lin replaces Jack, Howard replaces Lee to some extent (they're somewhat duplicative & GSW still has Biedrins), and Barnes steps up to offset the loss of Thompson. Thoughts?
You don't remember last year at Toronto? Calderon just abused Lin. Sorry, but he did. Granted it was only one game.
I keep telling myself that I won't check this thread anymore until tomorrow morning. Yet, I keep coming back to it every 5 minutes. Hurry Dwight
Orlando has over $17 M in trade exceptions due the the d12 trade last year per hoopsworld.com http://www.hoopsworld.com/orlando-magic-team-salary GD can trade bogut and thompson/barnes for that trade exception and sign d12 outright
For a S&T the Warriors, the Lakers are going to have to accept paying an incredible Luxury tax for the 2013-2014 season. After that season, the Lakers are pretty much fine with Luxury tax penalties. Even is the Lakers amnesty pau Gasol, and receive equal money from expiring contracts of the Warriors, which summed 20 million, the Lakers would still pay over 80 million dollars in luxury taxes. The question is whether the Lakers will do that for the Warrior's draft picks and expiring deals
Hawks don't want a 8.3 mil backup PG. Asik, White and TJones or D-Mo could get it done for Josh Smith. So both trades are a possibility.
If LA amnestied Kobe, wouldn't he have to wait a year before he could resign with the Lakers again? That could possibly cause a riot.
Looking up Calderon's stats, his offensive efficiency is still quite amazing. If we do trade Lin for him, it would certainly imply that the Rockets feel interior defense makes up for horrendous perimeter defense. Because a chair can guard better than Calderon.

Could this actually be a signal that the Rockets have pulled it off? I want to be optimistic, even if its not in my nature.
I'm not too worried about perimeter defense if we get Howard/Smith to man the interior. Calderon would be a perfect fit.
