Absolutely, that is the biggest pitch of them all.
I don't think Dwight will be able to step up to the plate, but this might persuade him to try his best, and wait for better times in LA.

Do some people actually think this was a good pitch by Kobe?

This would be a 100% out-of-touch, tone deaf pitch in any imaginable scenario.

But it's what we expect from Kobe and the Lakers in general. Welcome to Houston, Dwight.

Why cant he adjust learn and grow in houston? Why d **** will he learn leadership skills from kobe? If dh wants to be a b**** like Pau Gasol hr should stay in LA. If he wants to be man he should play with harden and parsons.

lol opps, forgot that this isn't the Dish.

Honestly, I don't care. Houston is fully capable of being a contender without him and all the drama he brings. Leave, come here, goto the Beijing Ducks, he'll still be one of my least favourite players.

Also, alot of you are wrong about Kobe. The guy literally brings out the best in players. Ariza, Caron, Bynnum, Odom...They've all shined when playing with Him. Howard is a fake alpha, which is worse than a beta. The minute he stops acting like a little bi%tch and learns his role is the minute he takes a step of becoming a real man. Everyone needs to be humble. For instance, GSP trains with Joe Rogan, Silva with phatass Stephen Segeal- These are the two best MMA fighters in the world. Being under the wing of someone in order to learn something doesn't make you less manly, in fact its one step closer to becoming a real leader. Leadership is developed from within, not from being placed in a perceived leadership role.

Completely turn-off for any player who wants to build his own legacy.

if anyone thinks Kobe cares about helping Dwight do anything, you must be new

Kobe is desperate. he needs to surpass Jordan's ring total. it's the only thing he cares about in the world. without Dwight he's done. Kobe has always and will always only care about himself

the Lakers problem is that Dwight knows this

Those players played well because Kobe was arguably the best player in the game back then. It has nothing to do with Kobe's intangibles, which involves kicking Shaq out of town and then decide to jump ship to the Clippers before a last minute plea from Buss. If anything, what Kobe can teach Howard is that just as Kobe needed a star big to win, Howard needs a star wing to win. Guess what, that's 24yr old James Harden, not 37yr old Kobe Bryant coming off a major injury.

Funny that you should mention Harden, who is only beginning to get of feel of being a leader on a team. This last year, there were alot of selfish moments, much like Kobe in his career.

Look, it's easy to sit around and dig up ghosts to prove something as debatable as "Kobe kicked Shaq out of LA". Even if that were true, why would you assume that Kobe, an intelligent person who's had to go through tonnes of trials to get to where he is today, is incapable of change from his earlier days? Besides the naysayers, who don't know jack, rambling on about how he's a selfish, arrogant, child, have you actually listened to any respectable sources?

How about Phil saying that Kobe, as hard as it was for him, slowly became a true leader over time? How about Bryant himself saying that he's come a long way in terms of maturity? Lessen to Shaq's assessment of Kobe Bryant. While you're at it, listen to what he has to say about Dwight. It's not a matter of personailty, as Shaq was way more fun than Howard, but rather it's about winning. Shaq's a winner. Kobe's a winner. Howard is a whiner.

Instead of taking in and actually giving Kobe's advice thought, he goes ahead dismisses it as "a turnoff". Get real. Anyway, some of y'all really want this guy, I can see that, and I get it. This is just my two cents.

Except that the team that's better positioned to win isn't the one with a washed rehabbing Bryant.

Wining regular season games? Sure. But winning titles? I don't think so. Kobe has needed another star to win one and Dwight's that guy.

I'm sure if you put James Harden with a Shaq and a Phil Jackson he'd win one.

So Howard has never won a championship nor worked very hard and he doesn't want to learn from someone who has? What if Dream tried to teach him how to win a championship, would you guys view that any different from Kobe trying to teach him? Is there a difference?
