Those players played well because Kobe was arguably the best player in the game back then. It has nothing to do with Kobe's intangibles, which involves kicking Shaq out of town and then decide to jump ship to the Clippers before a last minute plea from Buss. If anything, what Kobe can teach Howard is that just as Kobe needed a star big to win, Howard needs a star wing to win. Guess what, that's 24yr old James Harden, not 37yr old Kobe Bryant coming off a major injury.
Funny that you should mention Harden, who is only beginning to get of feel of being a leader on a team. This last year, there were alot of selfish moments, much like Kobe in his career. Look, it's easy to sit around and dig up ghosts to prove something as debatable as "Kobe kicked Shaq out of LA". Even if that were true, why would you assume that Kobe, an intelligent person who's had to go through tonnes of trials to get to where he is today, is incapable of change from his earlier days? Besides the naysayers, who don't know jack, rambling on about how he's a selfish, arrogant, child, have you actually listened to any respectable sources? How about Phil saying that Kobe, as hard as it was for him, slowly became a true leader over time? How about Bryant himself saying that he's come a long way in terms of maturity? Lessen to Shaq's assessment of Kobe Bryant. While you're at it, listen to what he has to say about Dwight. It's not a matter of personailty, as Shaq was way more fun than Howard, but rather it's about winning. Shaq's a winner. Kobe's a winner. Howard is a whiner. Instead of taking in and actually giving Kobe's advice thought, he goes ahead dismisses it as "a turnoff". Get real. Anyway, some of y'all really want this guy, I can see that, and I get it.
