Maybe they are just covering their bases.

It would look quite embarrassing if Dwight chooses the Rockets, and there are billboards still up in L.A. begging Dwight to stay.

Then everybody will see them taking the banners down wih their tails between their legs.

The consensus seems to be that the Rockets are the best landing spot for Howard, given the youth, talent and cap space; however, we know that's never simple. Based off of what you know about him and hear about him, what does Howard end up doing?

    Chad Ford (1:46 PM)
Hard to predict what a guy who changes his mind every 15 minutes is going to do. Yesterday, just about everyone I spoke with thought he was heading back to the Lakers. I think it's LA or Houston. If the Rockets could find a way to get Josh Smith too, it might seal the deal for them, but while not impossible, it's close to it. My money is on the Lakers, but again, the wind could shift tomorrow and he could end up somewhere else.

What is Houston's best plan if Howard doesn't come? Please don't say Bynum.

    Chad Ford (1:50 PM)
If you want a Top 3 center -- I do think Bynum is probably the guy. Incredible risk, but especially for a team like Dallas, what else are you going to do? Houston could stay pat. Atlanta can just go into full tank mode. Not sure Dallas can do that. I think Rockets much more likely to add another wing or try to pry away LaMarcus Aldridge from the Blazers or Al Horford from the Hawks.

Like someone already said. If he said no, it would look pathetic for them to still be up, and people probably wouldn't like seeing that after he already left.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

It's remarkable how all these reporters come out of the woodwork with reliable sources during the meetings, and are dead silent after the meetings.

Shows those dudes were (willingly or unwillingly) putting out information for interested parties.

I don't think it takes too long to take it down. Atleast leave the one at Staples Center up.

Yeah, around the city I understand but your own stadium? Just doesn't state confidence.

It's like LeBron and the large "Witness" sign in Cleveland. They didn't take it down before he made his decision saying "We'll be embarrassed."

Mountain area is a good place to shut down cell phones.

    Howard is playing smart here.

Lets assume harden was a free agent. Do you think he's going to LA to play with Dwight even though the rockets were in the play offs with him on the team?

Of course not because you're not looking at it objectively.

Old and injured is a temporary thing. What matters is which franchise do you think us more capable of putting rings on your finger. I believe it's houston if he comes here, but what I believe and what Dwight believes are two different things. And honestly if I'm in his shoes I would probably lean more towards LA.

There is a reason Dwight wanted no part of houston initially. I don't know what that reason was but it was there. We are a more attractive team now, so we'll see.

But if I had to bet I'd bet LA. I hope I'm wrong though.

It could have also been pushed by his agent to do these meetings. The Dallas meeting just seems like it was a favor Fegan did for Cuban. The Golden State meeting made no sense because the Lakers were never willing to do a sign and trade.

I'm OK with him staying in LA. If he does, it says a lot about where his head is and I think we weren't a great match in the first place. I would NOT be OK with him going to Mavs. I'm petty, and I just don't want them to have him lol.

That may be but the question is how much better and how soon would the lakers be able to build the team back up. Where are you going to have a legit shot at multiple rings. Houston or LA. That's what Howard has to decide.

Lol taking down banners would be the last thing they would do if Dwight told them he is coming back.
