    Agreed.

I already posted the detailed alternative 2 scenario over a month ago so didn't want to do it again.

I meant that they are spiritually succeeding the '97 team.

Not that Howard is better then Olajuwon

Yep if Morey could pull that off....

Defense wins rings guys and there is a very workable option to retain Asik and still get Howard and Smith. C'mon Morey...

I'd hope/pray for a three team deal that sends Lin/G. Smith/2nds to Philly, T. Jones to ATL, and J. Smith (S&T) to Houston and leave us with a Dwight/Asik/Smith/DMo front line.

I could only hope for a sign & trade with Lin as the main piece moving out in a Smith deal. We would be stealing. Ferry is a bright guy, so doubt that would happen. Although, Morey being Morey...

I have been waiting for something to drop on a Morey/Hinkie deal. I'm sure they've had discussions,(speculating of course) just not sure to what extent.

Sure (assuming Smith wouldn't be the push over the edge for Howard and LMA wouldn't), but why would the Blazers do that? They would love to have Asik to put with LMA, but I don't think they would entertain that deal for LMA. No reason for them to entertain that deal.

Smith has leverage with Atlanta because he could just go to places like Dallas or Detroit outright and Atlanta gets nothing in return.

Hakeem is a god and I would always take him over Howard, but you're being hyperbolic which a lot of people tend to be on this forum. Hakeem's career per was 23.6 while Howard's is 22.2 so far. They are not as far apart as you say.

Damnit yall, I wasn't saying Howard is better then Olajuwon.

I'm saying that our line-up is looking similar to the '97 line-up. Three stars at the SG, PF, C position, a clutch 3 pt shooter and defender, and an average PG who we love to hate.

Can I just delete the post or something?

I see this growing into a bigger trade than just Smith. Atlanta has tons of roster spots to fill, and a few attractive pieces outside of Smith that may interest the Rockets.

Asik + Lin + White + $1.7 million + TJones for Smith and Korver

Smith gets ~$12 million for 4 years
Korver gets ~$5 million for 3 years (waaaaaay out bid the Nets, who can only offer the mini mid level exception....$3 million)

    Rockets outgoing cap: $19.8
    Rockets incoming cap: $17 million

Rockets sign Aldemir and Canaan to "Parsons" deals with remaining cap. Room exception used to sign experienced PG. Corey Brewer signed for vet min.

    Beverley / Vet / Canaan
    Harden / Brewer
    Parsons / Korver
    JSmith / DMo / GSmith
    Dwight / GSmith / Aldemir

Next year, the Rockets bring over Llull with their MLE.

Not possible to get Howard and Smith without trading both Lin and Asik and getting nothing in return.

The only other way it's possible is to trade White and DMo and Jones and one of either Lin/Asik.

If Atlanta woud take Lin and Asik for Smith, and then we go out and sign 2 backup PGs and one backup C then I think we are probably the best team outside of Miami.

But his career per includes the years after his knees went bad.

I can't imagine how anybody who has ever seen Hakeem play would make this statement, so I'm going to assume you are too young to have done so.

they are alot farther apart than the numbers indicate. Hakeem went against much better centers for the entirety of his career as opposed to howard.

You'd be wrong then. Hakeem was and is my favorite player of all time. But Hakeem is not "eons" better than Howard. Better? Yes. "Eons" better? No. That is just hyperbole. Sorry.

With all of the talk involving Iggy meeting with Rockets, it's crazy to think of what is happening to Denver. They are really no longer the threat they once were and have much less of a future. Their exec. of the year is gone. Their coach of the year is gone. Their stud SF is going to be gone. What else?

Talk about a bright future diminishing quickly.

With that being said, we need to appreciate everything Morey has done. Our future gets brighter and brighter (even without Dwight!).

Your username says it all dbag. I don't think you ever watched Hakeem play. He is eons better than Dwight in every aspect of the game.

Compare the centers Olajuwon was playing against and the ones Howard is playing against. Olajuwon would rape Howard in his prime.

Okay? What was the purpose of that? You're acting like Dwight could not even hold Hakeem's jockstrap. That's just not true. Dwight is extremely talented. Is he Hakeem? Of course not. But he is not "eons" worse than him.
