It is not eerie. It is just factual. I posted this earlier: Originally Posted by thegreekdbag View Post Dwight will be a Rocket. I have no doubt about it. I hate Jerry Jones so I could never be a Cowboy fan even if I wasn't from Houston.
Just curious, but where were these TV exposures and endorsements when Howard was WITH the team last year?
I have no idea who that woman is. I just thought she was somehow near the meeting and overheard that in the room. It didn't make sense in that context. My mistake.
I'm pretty sure I just bombed my economics midterm because this decision was all that was on my mind. Just caught up on the last 20 pages. 1. Lakers meeting was short. Good sign, I hope. 2. #Stay banners being taken down right after the meeting. 3. And we might know by the end of the week. Good. I'm having a really good feeling about this. It just makes way too much sense for him to come to Houston. Hopefully he sees it and comes to play for us.
I could not stand the guy. I hated it when we signed him, yet I learned to root for him. I will do the same for Dwight. I just have a bad feeling signing Dwight will be a huge mistake. I really hope I am wrong.
Exactly. The Lakers just don't want to get "dumped". If they get him back, they'll revert back to the circus that was last season, and then they'll be wondering what they were thinking. Win-win for Rockets.
TO was a great player but, yes, he was a complete and utter POS and still is. Dwight has never struck me as a terrible person but who knows?
Another factor to consider for Howard is that not only were the Clippers better than the Lakers last year, they appear set to widen the gap in the upcoming season. With the hiring of Doc Rivers, the re-signing of CP3 and today's acquisitions of JJ Reddick and Jared Dudley, the Clippers may only be 1-2 more pieces away from being serious title contenders. Even more so with OKC losing Kevin Martin. It's great to be with the Lakers when things go well. But when you're the second-tier team in the city as a Laker, there's usually a bunch of blame and shame that comes with it. As in "Oh yeah, that guy was around when the Lakers fell off." So for all the glitter that can come with being a Laker, just as much scorn can come if you come up short, particularly to the cross-town rivals. I've said it and will repeat it: The Lakers will not be title contenders next year, primarily because Kobe won't be the same in his first year back. That and age will keep the Lakers from seriously contending for a title next season unless some unknown series of trades of other personnel moves take place that seem impossible for the salary cap-strapped Lakers. Nash talking about titles is sad. He'll be 40 at the time of the playoffs next year. I can only think of about 3-4 point guards who were playing at age 40. Stockton, Kidd, Cousy come to mind. Cousy came back for a year and wasn't very good. Kidd, well, we just saw that. Stockton was still good at age 40. He retired at age 41 after a solid stint in the playoffs at age 41. If the Lakers don't contend next year, then you're talking about Nash being 41 in the next possible meaningful playoff run. Times are changing in LA. If Howard is serious about basketball success, then the choice seems clear.
