They could have been talking to him all along. They didn't have to wait till July 1. I'm sure this meeting was just one last push to keep him.
well carlos left the team he was on before (astros), so maybe I hope it does! but i know what you mean lol
Link BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- The Dwight Howard Tour is over. Howard met with the final two teams -- the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers -- on his five-team to-do list Tuesday. The NBA's most sought-after free agent finished his scheduled sit-down with the Mavericks Tuesday afternoon in Beverly Hills, Calif. Howard's meeting with the Lakers, which lasted approximately two hours, took place after that. "Yes, I'm hopeful," Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni told ESPN's Shelley Smith after the meeting. "We all are. We made our presentation. Dwight has to make his choice and we just hope it's us." Added D'Antoni: "Dwight will make his decision, but the Lakers are the Lakers."
It's arguable though that we lost Beltran because we wouldn't give him his no trade clause. We ended up learning from the experience and offering one to Berkman.
This is what I don't get... The media driven crap about the "legacies" and "histories" of teams. It has NOTHING to do with RIGHT NOW. If you are an almost 28 year old vet, who wants to win a championship, the fact the Lakers had Mikan, Wilt, Kareem and Shaq means absolutely NOTHING. You're right. It IS overblown. Do players like LIVING in L.A.... sure. Partying there. Sure. Same goes for our "legacy". Hayes, Mo, Ralph, Dream and Yao.... awesome. But, has nothing to do with our ability to compete for a championship in the near future. It's "fun" and cool to write about, but most of these writers don't get it. Are there some cool things and perks to playing for the storied Lakers, Celtics or even the Knicks? Definitely. But, it's definitely overblown by the media (mostly ESPN).
Really? Dirk said he wasn't there and I thought Cuban looked like he was having a hard time smiling while just saying it was fun. He looked frustrated to me.
That could go either way. The way they were acting could also mean they were embarrassed and it was a waste of time.
Thats the first day he will sign. Supposedly, he will tell the world before then, possibly on the 5th. It would be wise so that his team of choice can start making the necessary moves to appease him.
A little humor from the lakers forum From "John G" on lakersground What a ****in tool. Dude obviously doesn't know anything about anything. He Mad!
Wonder what kind of reception Dwight is going to get if he returns to LA? Cant imagine tge Lakers fans being happy with the way he's conducted himself during his tenure as a Laker. He had to explore his options, which is understandable since he's making one of the biggest decision of his career.
Lol the tweets/quotes left that last part out! ""But lakers are the lakers" doesn't sound very confident!
