I saw the topic and thought the $36 million was for five years. Not bad, I thought. Then I saw it was actually for four years. WTF? $9 million a year is a joke.

Asik got 8M per year and he averaged 2.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 12.6 PER in 13.2 minutes in his first two years.

Tim Duncan is only getting $10M/yr.

This is what you get for taking a discount. Tiago Splitter.

Spurs still have $10 million in cap space. Assuming they get Manu for just a little, they can still spend to get an athleticish wing.

It's not really a bad deal for a center.

Tiago was really good in the regular season, and one of the main reasons the Spurs beat the Lakers & Memphis so easily. Yeah he sucked in the finals because Miami decided to go small, and wasn't a great matchup. Tiago does need to expand his game with a possible jump shot , and little bit tougher in the paint. If Spurs get AK47 & Oden, and possibly a guard shot creator with Bonners expering contract they will be the team to beat in the west.

4 years/45 million is a very fair deal. Was hoping for three years if Duncan retires in 2 years Spurs will have a nice expiring contract if that would of happened.

eeee....worst move the Spurs have made since the Richard Jefferson debacle.

Glad to see them make it though.

I'm pretty sure David Anderson would have contained the Gasol brothers & Randolph in a playoff series. Tiago is still one of the smartest players in the league, and good defender. I'm happy that is a 4 year deal instead of the 5 year originally. Was hoping the Gortat for Splitter sign and trade was true originally, but I'll take this he is a very solid player in his prime.

LOL @ pippendagimp bringing it in this thread. Tend to agree this is a nasty overpay.

You know what you get with Splitter, and it's not going to get any better. Why five years? They must see something most of us don't.

Yeah and without Tiago, Lakers may have won a game or two and would of worn out the Spurs in the Warriors series. If we have don't have Tiago aginast the Grizzlies then we may have not beat them...Too many scenarios that could of happened before the finals, but I'm happy the Spurs made the finals even if only one person picked us to reach the finals. We got some cool western conference championship shirts also . $9 million a year for a solid big man really hurts the Spurs it's not like we are going to waist our time trying to get Howard. Spurs could land Oden also, and could be a nice backup big man if he proves to be healthy.
