You make a good point, but having the final shot could be valuable. You can try to address all your competitors and make the strongest pitch. When decision time comes the last meeting is the freshest in your mind. But who knows the psychology of DH. If he is a weak minded flip flopper and LA glamor wins him over Houston substance, we don't want him anyway. Yes we do, but we have to come up with some rationalization.
I am sure the Mavericks presentation was good. Cuban is a dynamic smart person that will go all out to win. Nelson and Carlisle both are very competent and understand the X's and O's as well as anyone not in San Antonio and I am sure Dirk went all out saying he will take less money. I doubt anyone is going to do a poor job.... The Lakers one will be interesting. Part of the issue is that the Lakers Jim Buss is too proud to make the concessions to Dwight Howard that other organizations are willing to make because the Lakers believe they are above any single player, they are THE LAKERS. However, now they are in a spot where Howard may really leave. If Buss suddenly makes concessions such as firing his coach, he will have lost the power struggle to someone he believes is his employee, and he will lose face. Of course.... the reality is that the Lakers HAVE folded before (Kobe v. Shaq), but you are not supposed to consider that. No Magic.... No D'Antoni...... No Phil........ maybe Kareem (not Howard's favorite person)..... a tense Kobe.... a GM you cussed while leaving the court....... sounds like a whole lot of fun! But hey... maybe Jack will make another call or Woody Allen and his creepy bride.
I'm starting to think Dallas just used the same pitch as we did. DH and the undelivered PF = Dirk/DH. I'd put us in the lead based on the sole fact that we can offer exactly what Dallas can but Dallas cannot attain what we potentially could attain. Not trade for a 3rd max and make a run in 2014 or gun for a 3rd max contract.
"Day after day brings night after night without sleeping You keep me waitin' and you know what I'm waitin' for I oughta know better, I just oughta let go Man I've got to be crazy, some kind of fever"
Eh, not me. I've always been a fan of Dwight on and off the court. He's the best center in the league, and also has a funny personality. Sure, he's indecisive, but I still think he's a cool dude. Well, twitter wasn't nearly as popular as it currently is.
I'm talking the majority just ripping him. It'll be all over soon. Sooner we know. The sooner we will probably sign Josh Smith.
D'Antoni's existence is awesome. "Dwight, remember last year's pick'n'roll style that you hated and I have been running for the past 30 years as coach? I was just kidding. It won't ever again going forward. It's gonna be all post-up from now." - D'Antoni's pitch
