This case has the potential to expand stand your ground beyond what it was originally designed for. Yet you seem to believe that nobody will take notice and take advantage of this expansion of the law. Odd.
There is no expansion of the law. This is the whole premise of the whole case. You are so dead set that Zimmerman was looking for a fight from the get go. If there was any evidence to suggest this, then yes, I would be inclined to agree with you. And at this point, the prosecutions side has zero credibility. The only other witness is dead. The two or three pro martin witnesses are borderline incompetent. Zimmerman walks by default. There is no precedent to be set.
We still have to consider that the jury may be hung by a crusader / idiot or that we have a jury of morons.
It's almost certain the identities of the jurors will get leaked, and their lives will be in danger if they don't return a guilty verdict. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>When future PhD students study the collapse of American journalism, they'll cite the Trayvon Martin case a lot: <a href="http://t.co/1ppdoxc0ER" title="http://www.nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/352549/why-does-zimmermans-trial-get-round-clock-coverage-jim-geraghty" org_href="http://www.nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/352549/why-does-zimmermans-trial-get-round-clock-coverage-jim-geraghty">nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/…</a></p>— jimgeraghty (@jimgeraghty) <a href="https://twitter.com/jimgeraghty/status/352034504115879936" data-datetime="2013-07-02T07:02:20+00:00">July 2, 2013</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Old photos, deceptively edited 911 call audio, showing a SS #; the media rarely fails as awfully as in this case. <a href="http://t.co/1ppdoxc0ER" title="http://www.nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/352549/why-does-zimmermans-trial-get-round-clock-coverage-jim-geraghty" org_href="http://www.nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/352549/why-does-zimmermans-trial-get-round-clock-coverage-jim-geraghty">nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/…</a></p>— jimgeraghty (@jimgeraghty) <a href="https://twitter.com/jimgeraghty/status/352034934065598464" data-datetime="2013-07-02T07:04:03+00:00">July 2, 2013</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I have been preaching this literally since day 1. brb dropping shorts and squeezing out a warm pile on all the haters from the early pages of this thread
Report: Police Covered Up Trayvon Martin’s Legal Troubles… For obvious reasons. Via Washington Times:http://communities.washingtontimes....n-martins-legal-troubles-reportedly-covered-/
No, they didn't. Going by what you linked, Martin didn't have legal troubles, and had problems with the school. There was no need for the victims school record to be mentioned in an incident which had nothing to do with his school from another area.
I see what you're saying here. I mean, I could see some idiots now out there following whoever and then taking their own actions because of their thought process being misguided. That's something the lawmakers there need to cover though. If Zimmerman is not guilty thought beyond a reasonable doubt, then he shouldn't be convicted to prevent the law from "expanding", again that should be the lawmakers that do that and I believe they should do so otherwise you will have 1 or 2 idiots out there trying to replicate these actions.
On what ground? To have a trial, you need evidence. Im not trying to be pro-zimmerman, but the prosecution has been a complete joke. This trial has been a waste of everyones time. If the Martin family pushed for this trial, then they are complete idiots for drawing out their sons death like this. Next time bring credible evidence.
Perhaps they over reached on charges (most think they did). They have evidence to support charges, but seem to lack evidence for a conviction.

...I wonder if the skittles and the lean go hand in hand it sounds like Trayvon was on the path to trouble with his illegal drug usage
This has been my biggest concern with this whole situation from the beginning. The Stand Your Ground law really is half baked.
Since this is a criminal trial and not a civil trial it isn't the family's job to bring evidence but the prosecution's. I agree the prosecution has done a terrible job. Anyway if it was your son that got killed wouldn't you at least want to have a trial for the person who killed them?
I'm not so sure that the prosecution team has done such a bad job; there's just not that much weaponry to bring to the stand.
What evidence? At this point, their evidence is the two or three witnesses. One states they heard three gun shots. Their star witness is three sheets to the wind. The most important one is dead. Zimmerman claims self defense. At this point, there is no credible evidence to contradict this.
I would want an investigation. If I was in the same exact circumstances and I believed he was truly a victim, I wouldn't bring this weak evidence to trial. I would have enough sense to realize that the perpetrator would walk and could not be tried again. I believe Zimmerman and Martin were both victims to a tragic accident. At this point, I believe it was nothing more than an accident. Zimmerman should have stayed in his vehicle. Martin should not have attacked him. At this point, Zimmerman is the only witness. His story stands. Not my gut feeling. Not your gut feeling. Not circumstantial evidence.
