Tough decision, because we will be competitive staying as is. However, we will never beat the OKC's and Spurs of the wrorld without a D12. But his demeanor and behavior are bizzare at best. I don't see him as a leader and his personal life is a shamble and will impact his on court performance. Dude is a magnet for baby mamma wannabe's.

Hey genius do you have an opinion or just seek to call people stupid because they disagree with your opinion? So please feel free to offer your thoughts.

Dwight Howard is a multiple Defensive player of the Year, the best big man in the game, lead the league in rebounds even with his sore back & shoulder. He took the Magic to the finals a few years back whilst surrounded by scrubs, the best basketball minds and most legendary players all agree that Houston's chances of winning a championship increase ten fold by adding Dwight to the mix. He will attract a third star, like that team that won it all this year, and attract vets who want to WIN a Championship...Like that team that won it all this year, and allow us to compete with the top tier teams, like the one that won it all this year.

He is a potential 23p-13r 3 block guy in our system, who will anchor our defence, as well as alter opponents shots....

Would you like me to continue with the projected stats and win loss totals if we acquire Dwight?

And y'all are just hating on him without giving any alternatives...what would y'all rather do? Stand pat and compete for the 6th, 7th or 8th seed?

Sign Big Al Jefferson or Brandon Jennings?

I'm not calling anyone stupid because they disagree with me, but because their basketball IQ is so bad, they may as well be Rugby fans...and also comments like, 'Dude is a magnet for baby mamma wannabe's.'

James Harden drops $20k on a stripper in one night, does that affect his on court performance?

Tim Duncan's personal life is in shambles... And he made the finals!

So the points made in the posts I responded to are moot points, & having nothing to do with the game of basketball

I could go on, but if you don't understand now, you never will.

I'm only responsible for what I say, not what you understand.

    Just saying.

    God bless!

I've been saying the Rockets will go hard after D12 for awhile. But when I originally made these comments, it was all about the Rockets trying to build a championship team.

While this is still true, this signing (or a Josh Smith signing) or LMA trade is ALL ABOUT DARYL MOREY. I repeat, this trade is all about DM. Since the end of the Yao/T-mac era, the Rockets have been absolutely average. And they've been stuck in average for a few years now. You can throw all the basketball analytics out the door, this potential signing is for Morey to legitimize his GM value for the franchise and in the league.

His whole knock so far has been that he can't land the "big" free agent. He struck gold with Harden and Parsons.

Now he has no excuse not to able to bring in a top level FA, whoever it may be. If he fails to land anybody significant this year, publicly, it will be a huge failure on his part (and probably) cost him his job.

While I don't want to go as far as to say a guy like D12, JSmoove, or LMA or Love would put this team over the top (all have issues), signing or trading for one of these guys is an absolute because of Morey's public perception.

So while these guys are extremely talented and would definitely propel the Rockets to the upper echelon of the Western Conference, this signing has more to do with Morey's credibility than anything else.

Thinking that last years team could develop into a championship contending team is called looking through ROSE COLORED LENSES. Think about last season's roster:

    - Jeremy Lin
    - James Harden
    - Chandler Parsons
    - ???
    - Omer Asik

Only James Harden is a legitimate All-Star. Parson might be one one day, but currently he is just a good SF. Lin is a mediocre PG and Asik is a borderline double double. No one outside of Harden are premier players. Are you seriously suggesting a team where Parsons is the arguably the 2nd best player is going to contend for a championship? If you honestly believe this, you my friend, are out of your freaking mind.

Unless the team is already set at the core, you do not sit on your ass and hope talent and chemistry develops. That is completely pointless. Role players are found all the time, but stars rarely come around. I have nothing against Morey treating non-stars like trading cards, because that is what they are. The only thing that matters is putting out a team that can contend and that starts with a viable foundation first.

As for treating Asik and Lin like pawns? Well they are pawns. They are pawns that will hopefully get us a queen or rook back. That is what pawns are for. If the trade does fail to happen, if they are too weak to take it ala Martin, then they are not the type of players I want on the Rockets anyways.

I agree, too. I don't want a whiney b**** on my team. Except, then it just hit me. This is not a trade. This is free agency for the clear #1 prize of the summer and the top center. In fantasy basketball, everyone GM would grab the best player if they could. Because you can always trade him later.

I would trade Howard next summer in a second if I smelled him beginning to sour. That's the beauty. We can get him for Capspace, not players

We're talking about capspace. At some point, you have to convert that money into player assets. Now's the time. And he's the clear best choice for the money right now.

Howard on his best behavior can average that, but could easily go down with his back or start his 'Dwightmare" whining. A focused happy Dwight is a good thing for our team but there are no guarantees he stays healthy or remains focused and happy. Given his recent history, some of us do not think he is worth the risk. I will accept him if he comes and hope for the best but will always be nervous we will lose him to his back injury or he starts another "Dwightmare" scenario.

BTW, how is your daughter? I have been praying for her!!!!

Howard's reported thoughts and visible actions make me doubt he will be able to push the Rockets over the hump.

He has been a dominate big man for many years, but that was before the injury and when he was playing in a weaker conference where he was guaranteed a playoff spot. After the injury on a team with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Metta World Peace for most of the season he wasn't the same player as he was in Orlando with lesser talent.

Some chalk that up to the injury or the coaching situation but the fact is, outside of the occasional National team, Howard is not used to playing where he isn't the first option. The Rockets under McHale would have to completely revamp their gimmick offense to work around Howard's limited offensive moves unless he is willing to play as part of the team which if last season is an indication he doesn't really seem to do well.

I hear all these "Best Case" scenarios or "... on Paper" assessments of how he would improve the team but looking at the team and the player, unless his personality and playing revert back to form of 2 seasons ago, I don't see him as being worth the hassle.

This is exactly what I felt regarding the whole Howard hoopla. The only slight disagreement with you is that while it is not exactly a trade, we still needed to clear the capspace in order to be able to sign him. If he was not in our plan, some of the players we let go--good players, players who we have come to love--would still be around. Morey himself admitted that it was a gamble.

BTW, this thread being voted 2 stars shows you the mob mentality in every community. Why does voicing a contrary sentiment need to be shouted down?

    He does not have it.

Easy. I'd say this is the safest place to invest capspace that we have seen in a long time, not counting lebron. Who wasnt really that available. That said. I'm not much of a fan of Howard

I'm concerned about his attitude above all. I have no doubt of his skill, but I'm the type of dude that if I'm playing pickup I'd rather choose the player that busts his ass and doesn't mess with chemistry over the guy that can dunk over us. I don't want Josh Smith for a similar reason.

Forget Hardin and Howard. Let's get the 14th pick and stay just below .500 for the next 20 years. Maybe make the playoffs once or twice along the way. I can't believe Morey would go after these type of All-Stars when we have guys from the DLeague that are just as good. Bring back Hayes and Scola, now. I hear Sura is available.

Yes, when Howard signs with another team (hopefully) I'm going to throw a party. It is just be too bad they had to lose T-Rob for so little over this.

Bringing Hakeem & Drexler to the meeting was a dumb idea I think. Howard doesn't care about that.

He idolizes Lebron James and just copies everything that he does. Now he wants 3 max players on his team just like Miami.

He loves attention. I think the team he will get the most attention is Dallas. Also, that is the team which was on his list of teams to go to while he played in Orlando.

If he doesn't want to demand the Lakers fire D'Antoni, maybe he will decide he doesn't want to go to Houston because that means Lin & Asik will likely be traded.

I am hoping the Lakers tell him today that they are going to amnesty Kobe because that will pretty much guarantee that he will resign with them.
