It's def a big step down. I like smith, but have a lot of confidence in DMO and Jones' development. Would only want Smith on a "value" contract (no more than $11-12 mil).

Well, playing Smith and Asik together would give us possibly the best defense we've had since the JVG era. Combine that with fast breaking, 3-balling mentality and it could be a pretty interesting team.

FWIW, Smith seems less injury prone than DH12.

 

Giving up trob for 2nd rounders and signing only smith would suck.

Another, needs educating, Chanlder is being paid peanuts and he will be due a hefty raise, we pay Josh and Dwight no money for Chandler. Do u think we keep getting Chanlder on the cheap for the next 5 years.

 

Signing Smith won't prevent us from keeping Chandler. And Morey probably won't be offering him anywhere near a max contract if I had to guess.

 

Les and DM tend to get desperate, which is a major weakness.
The Pau Gasol, and Nene trade that didn't go through was an example of that.
We don't need Josh Smith, a short term deal for Millsap may be better, although I am not too keen on that either.
