So I, like most Rockets fans, am buzzing about the prospect of landing Howard and other players in free agency. But with rumors emerging that Howard is going to the Mavericks (which would be both devastating for us and dumb on his part), what is Plan B if the Rockets can't land D12? If you were Daryl Morey, what is your fallback plan?
Could go for Josh Smith, I mean we originally wanted him. But losing Asik for Smith isn't worth it. Maybe get Lin in on a trade. Probably best thing to do is get Rondo.
You sign role players to fiscally smart contracts with team options, then you began to trade for "assets" and picks once again to trade for a Star next to Harden... oh and forgot, try your luck again next year in FA and hope of the big stars opts out and hits the market and chooses the ROCKETS, but worry not my friend, DH12 is going to be Houston Rocket.
Status quo is not an option. In order to attract one more star, we must continue to improve, which means getting a quality starting PF, and capable reserve SF.
Josh Smith, Tony Allen, Chase Budinger and call it a day. Maybe see if you can pry an older legit backup center. Camby maybe? JLin, PBev Harden, Allen Parsons, Budinger Josh Smith, TJones, DMo Asik
DH12 has already ruined team chemistry and we better to land him so we have someone to blame about when Rox does not make the playoff.
Pau Gasol. Use our cap space to bring Gasol to the team. Have a starting line up of: Gasol Parsons Asik Harden Lin Gasol would fit perfectly into the roster we had last season, giving us a post up option, stretching the floor as a big, backing up Asik at center, passing out of the low and high post. It would be awesome. Then, at the end of the season his contract is up and we get ready for the free agency bonanza of 2014. I mean, I would be almost as happy with that scenario as I would with Dwight and all the subsequent roster moves to build around him. I'd love to keep Asik, DMO and TJones, see how everything develops -- but with a great post presence added to what we already had.
Im thinking the Lakers either amnesty or trade Gasol , I cant see him staying there beyond the Feb trade deadline. That team has to make changes even if DH12 stays in LA. They are really screwed up financially especially for this season. They have few avenues to add talent to an old , expensive roster. I could see them moving one or both of Gasol & MetaWorldRonRon. I highly doubt either are Lakers beyond the end of the coming season.
If Rockets couldn't get DH12, I'd like to see the organization to give the money to fans registered at clutchfans.net
