Why would LAL want to pay the extra $50MM in Luxury Tax when they won't have Dwight? It'd be a waste.

Didn't Feigen mention that the Rockets would remain in contact with Dwight over the course of this week?

Wow. If he goes to GS he is really putting his money where his mouth is. He looses percentage points on his raises and has to still deal with state taxes. Does he not realize he is a curry ankle sprain from the lotto.

Bogut is a walking injury waiting to happen. Harrison Barnes has potential but has a long ways to go to being a consistent player in the league.

OK, man... you know I've been one of your most vocal and consistent supporters, but you're starting to give me subtle reminders/feelings the same way you did shortly before you came strong and adamant that Howard was likely going to the Lakers and not here at the deadline.

    What gives, dude? lol...

I got and look on Mike's twitter and see this nowhere.

    Am I missing something?

In NBA terms, it isn't worth it. Klay Thompson is a slightly better versiom of Chandler Parsons, and that's a third banana at best, on a title team. Even the Lakers aren't going to pay 70 million in tax penalties to be a lotto team, but good enough to miss a top pick in one of the best drafts in recent memory. Sure I could be wrong, but its Not going to happen.

Plus, you really think LA wants to turn another California team into a powerhouse, and have to compete with them in the same division? Nope.

GS doesn't scare me. Howard isn't going to stay on the west coast unless he resigns with the Lakers. He knows the media there would bludgeon him for the rest of his career for letting the pressure of playing for the Lakers scare him off.

He wants a fresh start. He will have it in H-town.

Wow i am sooooooooooooooooooo shocked that dwight wants to goto golden state now. Just completely utterly totally shocked. Who coulda seen this coming? Certainly not our crack front office who have already pushed asik and lin halfway out the door in their eager anticipation of getting the premier diva in the nba and his buddy, he-who-is-6'10-with-the-wingspan-of-a-condor-but-cant-stop-jacking-up-30 feet-3 pointers.

Yes so shocked. Lets continue doing this nba 2k association gm mode offseason every year.

Would be very hard. Klay Thompson has less value than people think, he was woefully inefficient last year and his defense was suspect. Harrison Barnes started to show flashes, but I doubt he is enough to get the Lakers to trade to a rival, and pay a huge luxury tax. Maybe if GS works a three way where Lee is shipped out and the Lakers only take Barnes and Thompson back... but then who is left on GS with Barnes, Thompson and Lee gone? Would think that wouldn't appeal to Howard and even if it does, GS has to find a taker for Lee that sends no money back and get the Lakers to agree. Possible... but not likely, and the Lakers are not taking contracts back with only Thompson as the payoff.

$80 million on luxury tax isn't just something you do, especially when you will miss they playoffs most likely. That's nearly half of their entire revenue.

I thought lakers wanted to be big spenders in the 2014 FA period can they still spend if they do the S&T with GSW ????

I think cyberx is a joke. Not bashing, but I believe he just guesses and back it up with "I think" Just so happens he's everywhere? cyberx can't be working with the Rockets and I know he isn't with the D12 crew. Bring me to my point what position he's in to get this info?

    Exactly.

This is why you wrote SOME speculation.

Obvious some on the GS side would say or feel that after their presentation/meeting. We all know how Dwight is. No surprise they'd feel this way after a long get together with him.

So they would be paying a **** ton of money in cap this year for Thompson? I don't buy it.

I'm hinking if the Lakers chase LeBron next season they would still need some pieces, options for LeBron to really consider signing there. Otherwise all they'll have to sell LeBron is cap space and an empty roster.
