I imagine a deal would look like Picks/Bogut/Barnes or Thompson/maybe Biendrins (sp?) for Dwight.

Almost impossible for GS to make a deal happen. The Lakers are not going to want to help an instate rival and further, they will not want to lose cap space. It would require Harrison AND Klay to even get the Lakers interested. GS has to clear $23,000,000 in salaries to get Howard.....

Don't forget getting to play him in their division for the next 4 years. And Dwight takes a money hit between Houston and Golden State. This revelation is great news for Houston, as it means the Lakers have a ton of ground to make up.

If I were the Lakers you do the S&T. Get some young studs who will flourish in MDA's system.

Jerry West is still with the Warriors no?

Didn't West help get Gasol to the Lakers and win 2 titles? ;)

As it stands, I'm not sure if the Warriors can put together a package enticing enough for the Lakers to pay luxury tax that won't leave the Warriors with less talent than we have.

Uh no. The Lakers would be paying 70-80 million in luxury tax for a roster that has no chance to contend. To send Howard to a division rival no less. It's not happening.

    Keyword being "SOME".

I don't believe L.A. - with all the talk of amnestying Pau - want to take on Bogut (even though it's expiring) knowing they won't be competing for a championship just to get their hands on Klay or Barnes.

To all saying no way to GS, LA will want to keep Fegan happy and would trade Howard to GS just ORL traded him to LA.

So you would pay 70-80 million in luxury tax penalties, just to be good enough to miss out on the Andrew Wiggins sweepstakes? Klay Thompson isn't worth that.

Feigen mentions the Rockets outlining the future
so what do you think that entails?

    Dwight
    PF
Parsons - ideal all utility type of player; amazing salary vs production ratio; overall glue
Harden - star guard to help take pressure off in end of games
    PG

the PF spot is a big question mark. what type of player is best fit for dwight the player now? Dwight is a dominant defender when healthy and can help cover perimeter mistakes and also is a one man rebounding machine. His offensive repertoire is limited but because of his physical superiority, he is still quite effective. However, if we want any chance at beating Miami, I think that the only to do that is to basically pound them into submission with a big and tough front line. Therefore the ideal power forward type next to Dwight would be a guy that can defend/rebound/and shoot the midrange to 3point shot. Unfortunately, Kevin Garnett is not available. There are plenty of options out there... (Milsap, Smith, Ersan, etc) who do you think is the best fit and most coveted by the Rockets?

A similar question also arises in regards to the PG situation. Lin's biggest problem to Houston is that if Howard joins the team, we are in win now mode and we can no longer afford to wait and see if Lin can be a championship caliber PG. At the end of last season, he was clearly not that type of player. Besides, his contract is too much to be the 5~6th best player under the current cap rules. This is not a knock on Lin as a player, but more so on how he will fit the possibly Dwight-centric Rockets team moving forward.
Ideally, we need a solid defender, strong spot up shooter, a leader who can initiate the offense and keep his stars happy, take care of the basketball type of player. Lowry would have been ideal but we know that story so... who else do you think Morey has in mind?

It's not happening? ok. In our heads we say no because of our pocket books. In NBA terms. It means if its worth it.... you do it. You might not think the Lakers would take that hit... but you NEVER know. If there is one franchise that would do something like this... it would be the Lakers (maybe Knicks)

Please shut up. Stop acting like you're part of their front office. No one knows if they're willing to do a Sign & Trade.

For what reason would they get any of those players?

To pay the tax and have those players aid them from having a terrible season?

Where do the Lakers win in this deal? People are suggesting that the Lakers will just settle for taking back any kind of prospects but that's not the Lakers thing.
