Theoretically, for $17M you'd have to send out Asik, Royce, and probably D-Mo. But that's besides the point. Josh Smith ain't getting a $17M salary when guys like LMA and Kevin Love are earning less than $15M.

People are seriously getting ridiculous with their estimates here.

So the team that gave Joe Johnson a Max deal was the laughing stock of the NBA. And why do fans care so much about how these owners spend their money. I can name a lot of players that got Max deals and didn't score over 20+ a game. He'll Howard scored over 25 a year how many times?. Lol dude about to get 20+ a year.

I wonder why Atlanta have a new gm that then shed their awful JJ contract....

    It's hard to figure out....

Josh Smith need to work on his jumpers. His FG% for this last season with ATL is 46.5% and his free throws are 51.7%. T/O ratio is quite high. The good thing about him is that he passes the ball often as a Forward position., averages 1.5 steals a game and can block.

Fans care because with limited resources (ie salary cap), every dollar you spend (or don't) is a missed (or gained) opportunity to spend it somewhere else. This is why Parson's is so valuable, and virtually untouchable.

Dwight is about to get more than what Lebron is getting. Joe Johnson is making more than a lot of SS are making. So you can best believe dude cab get 17il from one of these teams. Lol

He's the best player in the entire league at his position.

He has a career average of pretty much 13 rebs per game.

18 ppg, 13 rpg, 2 bpg and the BEST at your position deserves max money.

IF you arent even an all-star and you're known to have a half motor....that does NOT deserve max money.

Our league is really good at quantifying offense, but defense? Not so much. We've barely begun learning how to quantify defense and turning it into value (that is easily comparable to offense.)

This is why defensive players don't usually make a lot, even stud ones. Matt Barnes, Tony Allen, all underpaid for the wins they provide their team.

Also, there's max (13-14m) and super max (14+), big difference there.

Morey isn't dumb, I trust his analytics team. Josh Smith was Plan B, with or without dwight.

    In Morey I Trust.

I'm just showing people that it happens every year. Even our Rockets dished out some bad contracts. But we don't know if Josh would or wouldn't explode after a fat contract. Who on here actually new Harden was going beast like he did.

    How you figure this?

Name a C better playing right now than him?

If referring to Josh Smith....was he even an all-star this year?

    Yet he deserves the max?

    And i'm the fool???

    Ooooookay, player...

I did, I predicted 25/5/5 and a 7-8th seed to a few long-time reputable posters on this board. Anyone that plays 2k12 should have known that harden was a beast!

Well why? Because we like our team and want it to excel? What do you mean? This isn't baseball where you can spend as much as you like. No one watches sports because they have a financially vested interest, this is purely entertainment and winning is fun to watch. I personally only watch when we win.

It's like having a 100 dollar gift card to buy christmas dinner, how are you going to spend it for the most enjoyable dinner possible?

Harden (100 dollar bottle of scotch)
    Dwight (Cornbread)
    Parsons (Ham)
    etc.

He's subpar offensively. Just because he can dunk doesn't mean he is efficient. Low %s and turnover prone. Also no need for him to attempt 3 3pt attempts a game at all. I've seen so many close Hawks games where he blew it by missing free throws..

Let's remember, players usually don't do so well when trade rumors start buzzing. Smith seems like the type that would let that stuff get to his head. Also, the rumors we're as way back as last summer...
