You are right, the money has to match. Asik is making 8 mil and Josh making 13 mil. Plus Josh wants a Max contract, so add another 2-3 mil to that. So we would have to give up both Asik and Lin to match that. Dig a lil deeper and who can we sign after that because the money will be tight.
You are wrong. Rockets do not need to give up both Asik and Lin. The money does not have to match in a sign-n-trade. A difference of up to +50% is allowed. Rockets can send Omer Asik and Royce White for $10M. That means the Rockets can accept a player in a sign-n-trade for a value of up to $15M, even if it puts them over the cap.
They'd be the laughing stock of the nba. Even a sniff of detroit maybe considering it got them lambasted, haha.
It's very easy to dislike the idea of acquiring Josh Smith, he made 33% of his shots from 16-23 feet (equivalent to 22% from 3) with 3.9 attempts per game--a huge improvement from the 6.3 attempts he took the year before, but I'm hoping he can improve on that even further if he ever puts on a Rockets uniform. Josh Smith's 2012-13 shot chart is not a pretty sight. Josh Smith makes 36.5% of his 3's in the right wing, and that's equivalent to 55% on long 2's. In contrast, LaMarcus Aldridge shoots 7.3 long 2's a game and only makes 41% (equivalent to 27% from 3). Sometimes good players get used wrong, but that doesn't mean they're a bad player--if this is the case with Aldridge, why can't it be the case for Josh Smith? How many of you have heard or even said the words yourself: "In Morey I Trust"? Only 5 months ago Daryl Morey tried to trade for Josh Smith. Now there is talk that Daryl Morey is meeting with Josh Smith tonight. These facts indicate that Morey has reasons to believe Smith is a good player, and here are my thoughts as to what those reasons are: - Terrific defender who will give us the option of switching on everything--a defensive strategy that OKC and Miami have proven to be very effective against certain teams. Read more on Josh Smith's defense HERE. - A monster in transition. This means points in a way that doesn't take the ball out of Harden's hands. - He fits into our dribble drive offense--penetrate and pass until someone gets an open shot. I know I don't speak for most Rockets fans when I say this, but regardless of whether or not we see Josh Smith's best man in a Rockets uniform, I wouldn't have any objections if the groom came looking to put a different kind of ring on his finger with the Houston Rockets.
Josh will get an offer of more than $15 from another team... If Howard wants Josh, then Howard should do like LeBron and take a pay cut.
Not even the pistons will offer him the max and they're the ones who gave Ben Gordon and Charlie v ridiculous money. Smith is going to be humbled along with a lot of other fa this summer. Cap and tax implications have never been so hampering to organizations like this before. I see him getting 12 but not max and not close to it
Thats a dumb team because he isnt worth max money. Great players that score mid 20's and up on the regular and are all-stars to boot, deserve Max deals. Smith is good..not great. Any GM that gives him Max money is an idiot. Parsons deserves max money if Smith does...and Parsons does not at all at this point, deserve a max deal.
That shot chart tells me Josh Smith is jump shot crazy and not that good at it. Neither Josh Smith or Howard have a legitimate low post game. And jump shots don't always fall (especially for Josh Smith according to that shot chart). Pick and rolls and dunks are good for the regular season but come playoff time _ Josh Smith and Howard is an offensively challenged frontcourt.
I doubt that very much. He won't make more money than LMA or Kevin Love... Josh Smith has never even been selected to an All-Star roster. He's a "Almost All-Star" type player similar to Tyson Chandler and Roy Hibbert when they first got their big contracts. Those guys got less than $15M each, and they play a position (center) than is generally more expensive than power forwards. $15M is probably the most Josh will ever get anywhere. Realistically, I expect him to be closer to $14M.
Not a big Josh Smith guy. But if you can get him and Dwight while keeping Harden.. You really have to pull the trigger, if possible.
