Good point. Don't understand their role in this meeting. Nor the reason why the CSN network figured in the Rockets' meeting. Is it tied to local TV ad revenue, or something else?

I'm not saying he hasn't made a decision - I think he already has. I'm saying he has no real incentive to announce it right away, but he does have an incentive to take a few days on it. It's PR. If he leaves then LA fans are going to have a monumental meltdown, and his image will take a hit. He needs to create the impression that he thought about it long and hard, and it was an agonizing decision.

We are being ridiculously impatient. In the internet age we expect everything to happen nownownow, but in reality not everything has to happen like that.

Maybe it'll come Thursday. Maybe it'll come tomorrow night. Maybe it'll come on the 10th. What difference does it make, really? Once he decides other deals will cascade at a VERY rapid pace, since alot of teams are waiting on this decision. The GMs are still making the phone calls, having the meetings, setting up their contingencies. The rest of the NBA will start breathing again and things will still happen, and fast, once he announces his decision.

It's not like this all has to get done by next Tuesday.

While TW can't pay him, if Howard and His Homies takes off, the extra endorsement deals will generate cash. But I just don't see how he/they could focus on basketball width a circus of cameras following him/them around. And imagine how Kobe will feel with cameras always focused on and following Howard. Kaboom.

I have no idea what the info about CSN means, there have been no details.

We at least have heard from "sources" that TWC wants to give Dwight a show, and we have heard about a prospective reality show. If Howard were to be compensated for either one of those shows, the NBA could very possibly investigate because the CBA does not allow affiliated companies to compensate players on a team's behalf.

If CSN/Rockets have some sort of similar idea to compete with the idea that the Lakers/TWC might be doing this, then I have a problem with that.

If Dwight Howard does not want to come here for basketball reasons alone, then I dont want him and he can go to hell or LA(which ever is more convenient)

Thanks for posting, even if get/got flamed. Everything you say makes a ton of sense and doesn't sound like sour grapes to me one bit.

Back when Deke signed his last contract with the Rockets his shoe sponsors had a NBA event, presser in New Jersey, I guess they were NBA sponsors too. It wasn't just to announce Deke but other NBA players they signed too.

Anyhow, there was a video clip of the head of this Chinese co., when asked if they had a hand in Deke choosing Yao's team over Boston, he bragged a little about his company offering a "very generous" incentive to sign with the Rockets instead.

Yessir so true if he decides not choose the Rockets than it's because of other reasons besides basketball and if that were the case I do not want.

No, it makes a huge difference. Teams aren't going to wait around for Dwight if they have nothing to do with Dwight. Some players are not going to wait around...we've already had TWO major deals go down or at least try to go down. (not sure what's going on with the Knicks thing)

For a team like Dallas that is involved in multiple moves...I think they'd like to know as soon as possible if Dwight will sign or not. One thing teams do not like we've seen is being played around. Being dragged along. They just want to know are you in or out? That's why Dwight gets so much flak for this.

Chris Paul made his decision right away, and so did so many other big name FA players throughout the years. I'm not saying he has to decide now...but to drag it out AFTER his break is over is very inconsiderate of the other teams.

That time between the 4th and 10 could be HUGE for Dallas or any other team. If you remember they spent their time courting Deron and by the time he made his decision (which IIRC was relatively short) they had lost out on most of the good PGs.

These other teams aren't going to wait around. If Detroit goes to Iggy and gives him a great offer and say take it or leave it right now and that's a guy that Dallas may target...Iggy may not wait around for Dallas whose waiting for Dwight. He's going to take that offer.

Also if he's made his decision then he may as well get it out there. Laker fans are going to attack him no matter what if he leaves and so will all the rejected fanbases. I think no one would be angry at him for announcing it early, in fact most people call this the 'Dwightmare' because it's dragged on for so very long now.

TWC broadcasts to millions. CSN broadcasts to 87 people on a good day.

    Yeeeaaa...Im calling BS on that.

Like I said(a couple of times now), that is against the CBA and if it had been said somewhere that David Stern or his lackeys saw it, the Rockets would have been fined or worse depending on if Stern felt like making an example.

SO, what does your post have to do with if Howard should sign here or not?

Got a valid answer my little Laker troll?

or are we just flopping our fingers on the keyboard and posting what shows up?

I can't help but smile reminiscing on the post-Yao depression, that agonizing string of years highlighted by 14th picks, K-Mart flops, trade deadline blue balls, and the AB0-Lowry war, among other things.

    Feels good, man.

Where did you get that idea? It's wrong.

TWC can in fact compensate Dwight. The restriction here is that the NBA will scrutinize the TV contract to ensure Dwight's compensation is consistent with similar TV deals given to sports personalities. If Dwight is paid 10x more than Chris Bosh is getting paid for his TV show, then obviously it would raise red flags and the league will call shenanigans.
