The cavs would have never allowed a s&t to a team without the cap space to sign him outright, that was the point of their posturing.
He wants another max player, screw Howard, I hope he goes elsewhere to screw over another team. I truly feel he is playing Houston and will force them to screw up their team and go elsewhere. Dwight Howard sucks azz.
I started this thread and quickly learned to skim for two things. Embedded tweets, and people with clout(cyberx, deckard, yoyo, jr, etc...). It sucks to miss the convo going on but saves alot of time. I started this thread in hopes of easily finding updates and juicy rumors. I was hoping all the speculation, debate and general discussion would stay in the many other threads (albeit i knew better). It was worth a try. But if you follow my advice on how to skim thru this epic thread, you will be ok and save time. Btw, thanks to all who have posted tweets and updates. Especially yoyo for the cf paparazzi, and cyberx for insider knowledge. And a slight acknowledgment for megastarhs "decoding" doc rockets script.

I'm trying to figure out a good enough reason as to why More would simply dump Robinson, Brooks, Delfino (meh) and potentially others if he didn't truly believe we had more than a 50/50 chance at signing Dwight. I mean do you guys realize how foolish we'll look if we fail to land him after all these cap saving moves and this hard push of HOFers, current players, and staff to meet with Dwight and convince him this is the place for him? (long ass sentence I know) It makes you think that Morey being the numbers guy that he is truly believes/ed that we were and always have been the frontrunners in the Dwight Howard sweepstakes. It just wouldn't make any sense as to why he would make those moves so prematurely without knowing his chances with him being the 'Moneyball' guy that he is.
I'm not sure how basketball analytical is supposed to give any insight into free agency decision making...
By "TV opportunities" the Rockets means that if Dwight signs with Houston there is an opportunity (in fact, an almost 40% chance) that Dwight can get Comcast SportsNet at home on TV.
This. If we dont hear from Howard soon after his meeting with the lakers, then we can assume winning is not his main priority and will probably re-sign with lakers to film his stupid reality show.
Maybe he's been obsessed for so long with chasing Dwight that he's had some sort of psychological break or something? j/k I think this is all just smoke and mirrors on everyone's part and the parties know what they are doing and where he is going. I think he's already made up his mind, and has probably had it made up for awhile. Just my feeling of the situation, though. I also don't see Morey risking so much for something unless he thought it was in the bag. As a GM he has to take some risks, but he is all in on this one already. Of course, even they're wrong and Dwight pulls a Dwight, we aren't exactly screwed. Our core is still there, we can probably bring back most of the guys we've cut (was TRob ever really in our plans for the future after last season anyway?), and we have enough cap to go after anyone we want. We will still be in the hunt going forward, we will simply be going in another direction.
The only one of those moves he MAY have made prematurely was Robinson. If I am not mistaken, Delfino and Brooks had to be waived before July 1st or they would be guaranteed. He did wait until pretty much the last minute to do that. Additionally, they likely wouldn't have brought back Delfino regardless due to his injury status and Brooks became much more expendable after they picked up a point guard they clearly feel very good about in the draft. In regards to Robinson, if word got out that we DEFINITELY needed to move him because Dwight had agreed to sign here if we cleared enough room, teams would have played serious hardball and there is no way he'd have gotten a haul anywhere close to what he got from Portland.
I'm assuming Dwight has been to Clutchfans (honestly, I assume that Parsons or Harden have told him about this site...flamesuit on), and has seen the complaints about Comcast, and is trying to throw the fans a bone by demanding that this channel be available to more fans in Houston.
If we don't hear anything after his Lakers visit.... I would say, it doesn't sound like you should. If Mr. Medina is right, looks like he's going to take "off" through the July 4 holiday so maybe not until the 5th, 6th, 7th or beyond. Or maybe we'll all get lucky and a reporter leaks it.
