I'm sorry, and I might be in the minority, but after seeing Dirk this year and at age 35, I don't consider him a "star" anymore. If David West ain't a "star", neither is Dirk.

But maybe I'm just being a stupid homer and Dallas hater. I don't know. It's been that way for weeks now trying to convince myself that Dwight is coming.

Why would he want a third star. He wants to be the man in a inside out system him and 4 shooters. 3 stars works in mia cause James is a scorer and distributor Wade is in decline and willing to let Janes do the heavy lifting and bosh is bosh. "SOURCES" say that dallas would be a good place cause it become his team automatically.

Heh, a boston report said one of their executives thought dallas acquiring rondo was a joke, because they didn't have anything at all boston would want.

You think their fans are dumb? Apparently their radio personalities think (1) Dirk is still a star... And an attractive one to join, (2) Eric Bledsoe is a star... And attainable for OJ Mayo, and (3) Ainge is eager to trade his one true asset left for Shawn Marion or Vince Carter.

    What morons.

Does Dallas have a shot? I guess. But because they can be a blank slate for Dwight. They'd be his team clearly and hed only really have to compete with Dirk on the Mavs Mt. Rushmore. It's like a middle ground between LA and Houston. Probably in a distant third... But you never know.

But the idea he's attracted to the Mavs because their poised to make a championship run is ludicrous.

Dallas is full of dreamers. They can debate over the definition of "star" all they want, but the fact of the matter is Howard, Harden, and Parsons owns Howard, Dirk, and whoever they can get with their lack of assets any day.

On top of that, the Rockets still have Asik and Lin and a bunch of youngsters with potential.

No matter how you slice it. As we've beat to death- if Howard makes this move for basketball reasons, no one can compete with the Rockets.

Unless the Warrior pull off a miracle sign and trade.

Dwight is crazy if he thinks he can carry a team alone, not with a kid named LeBron in the league!

Kid needs help and it aint Dirk and the and the ageless wonders in Dtown (boogy!)....and they need two years to even start contending. All I can do is, smh, and hope he sees if he leaving then Houston is where he needs to be.

Posted this in the update thread but here it is again:

I thought this was interesting— Dwight may want the Rockets to offer another max for a "third star".

If true, this presents many positive arguments towards Houston landing Howard:

    1) This contradicts reports that Howard wants the team to be built around him for the coming future, something that would have given the Mavs and Lakers an advantage due to the aging Dirk and Kobe, respectively.

    2) You know Daryl has prepared scenarios for a third max— or max type— player. I think what we're seeing with the Lin/Asik trade speculation, is our attempt at pulling off a big deal. You've got to imagine that there are S&T deals being discussed amongst the Rockets and teams like Portland, Atlanta and— only if Houston gets desperate— Denver.

    3) The fact that Howard wants, essentially, a "third star"— and presuming that Houston is trying to facilitate trades to acquire one— indicates the possibility of Howard taking a slight pay-cut (and/or the acquired player doing the same). Houston would likely need to get rid of both Asik and Lin to afford an Aldridge or Smith; but would possibly be able to get rid of only one of them for Iggy.

The "win now" mentality seems to be a common theme with Howard and the Rockets, and if moves are made (w/o extensive cap research) our rotation could look like this:

PG: Beverley or traded player (Teague?, separate trade for a pg?)
    SG: Harden
    SF: Parsons or Iggy?
    PF: Aldridge or Smith
    C: Howard

    B1: Brewer?
    B2: Smith
    B3: Jones
    B4: Anderson
    B5: Motiejunas/Canaan/FA

First of all, take out Dirk Nowitzki out of the Mavericks and take out James Harden out of the Rockets. The Rockets ARE still a better team than the Mavericks. So why the hell will Dwight want to go to that garbage place? Second, you actually think Morey and Les will back away from telling Dwight they wouldn't be able to add a third star? Man, Morey and Les are not like that. They told him right there in the meeting they will try and add another star. They didn't backed away from that question and just ignore it. Third, stop listening to those idiot, homer fans.

And now I understand why Clutch limits thread starting abilities for new members. Not sure what happened here though, but hopefully he fixes the glitch.

The more stars, the less pressure for him. I know the dude is talented but man he can be a diva.
