LOL - he's a better rebounder (in less minutes) -- and he was 0 for 2 from 3-pt range for the entire season, so he rarely takes those types of shots.

    JJ Hickson - 13.2 orb%, 28.5 drb%, 20.7 trb%, 3.3 orpg (562 total), 7.0 drpg (828 total), 10.4 rpg, 29.0 mpg

    Josh Smith - 5.8 orb%, 21.3 drb%, 13.6 trb%, 1.8 orpg (506 total), 6.7 drpg (639 total), 8.4 rpg, 35.3 mpg

And that was when people knew we were desperate for cap space to sign Dwight.

Full r****d. If anyone could get Asik for a 2nd rounder they take it, even if they don't need a C and they run with it and laugh.

Lin probably cheaper than Chalmers if you consider how much he made for the Rockets franchise.

I don't care how much me makes for the organization, it's all about what he counts towards the cap. At 4 mil towards the cap he is a steal.

Chalmers is an awful PG. Just awful.

Lin, Asik and a 2nd rounder for Josh Smith and Jeff Teague should be considered though. It makes sense for both teams.

Atlanta and Josh have a broken relationship, it's time for both parties to start anew, and they've demonstrated that they were willing to let him walk. Lin & Asik fill positions of need for Atlanta on reasonable contract terms. Josh Smith is a good 3rd wheel for the Rockets' championship squad. Teague is a pretty solid player, statistically comparable to Lin (not the same impact-wise) but given the market for PGs he should be only receiving $5M per year.

Lin, Asik and a 2nd rounder (forward them both of Portland's, even) for Josh Smith and Teague.

Well, in two years Lin's salary won't likely give us flexibility under the cap because Harden and Howard alone would be $38.1M. Minimum filling out the rest of the roster with holds and one 1st round pick would put you at about $45M. Even if you assume the cap rises significantly to something like $65M for 2015-16, that leaves you with only $20M to shape the rest of the roster. And that is without the Rockets committing to anyone else (including Chandler Parsons, Terrance Jones, Beverly and Montie) beyond 2 years. If you assume just options and qualifying offers for the latter 3 (or at least 3 similar salaries) you are down another $4.5M.

So let's say the Rockets bring absolutely no (outside of Howard) FAs in and commit to them for longer than 14-15 (highly unlikely) or separately trade for anyone else under contract past 14-15. They (at best) have about $15M (in a big cap increase scenario) to spend and a roster of only Howard, Harden, Beverly, Jones, and Montie or just that roster and the sign and trade rights to Parsons, Lin (I see very little value in that), and Asik.

And I am talking about not adding extra short term salary in that trade because you are otherwise almost 100% paying the luxury tax next year. Under that scenario (with Smith getting the max, mind you) just for 2013 you are only $8.8M under the luxury tax without any other FAs signed and no salary bump beyond minimum for Canaan. With at least using the exceptions the next two years and the contract raises for Harden, Howard, and Smith likely to out pace the salary cap increases you are adding a luxury tax year and repeat offender bump a year or two before you would reasonable have to and without much value added (IMO) towards being more legitimate contenders. Les wants to win and make money. Pay the tax when you have to (like 2015-16 to extend Parsons and fill the roster out around your stars) but avoid it for at least the 1st year when you aren't going to have to and you aren't positive exactly how it all will go.

    TL;DR I know

    ~21:48 Broussard:

Jeremy Lin is available. He's been offered to at least one team. I talked to a GM last night, I asked if he's on the market. "Oh definitely. No question." Like no question.

They would love to get rid of him?

Yeah. If they bring in Dwight Howard.....Houston wants to bring in Dwight Howard obviously. He does not want to be strictly in a pick 'n' roll offense. That's why he didn't enjoy playing with Nash. Last year was all pick 'n' roll with the Rockets. One thing they have to do is convince Dwight they'll play a way offensively conducive to his skill set. Jeremy Lin was one of the players not invited. That's why they're looking to get rid of (him).

I for one hope we keep them both and Howard signs elsewhere. We need to upgrade at the 4 spot. We need Kevin Love or LMA when they become available.

On the one hand, I think Lin has superior potential. He has a real chance to be a top point guard in the league.

That being said, for some ridiculous reason Dwight Howard does not enjoy the pick and roll. I am not sure why, as he appears to be perfectly suited as the premier pick and roll big man in the league. However, Lin is simply not suited to playing with a post-up, ball dominant big man, especially with Harden already there taking the ball.

Calderon would be a good fit. If Beverly has worked on his shot all summer, he would be perfect.
