Dwight would rather be a Will Smith than an all time great NBA Center. That is how I interpret it. Kinda sad if you ask me, but time will tell what he really wants
Of course he does. He has narrowed it down to 4 or 5 teams. That's "a pretty good idea of where he is going."
What? Are you sure you don't have an intimate desire for sheep? You remind me of someone several years ago who used to post here. Oh, and I don't think anyone would confuse Novak with Garcia, with all due respect. (what does Novak have to do with anything??)
I don't see why anyone is still arguing Dwight is getting a "guaranteed 5th year for $30 million more in LA". It comes out to $9 million when you factor in the Texas state income tax savings. It would be like Dwight signing a 1 year deal for $9 million at age 31 instead of another max deal. He would be 32 by the end of his 5 year deal in LA trying to re-up for another max deal. That 1 year is a big difference at that age, especially for centers.
Where do you guys come up with this stuff? Jack>Hakeem blah blah. I know it isnt an attack and I am not taking it as one. It is just funny how everyone comes up with their own twist to everything I say. There is no comparison, ONE is a Hollywood actor. The OTHER is a hall of fame NBA player. What I am saying is, it doesn't matter unless he is going to be there PAST the week of recruiting. That is how Dwight is thinking. He appreciates it very much and thinks its a GREAT gesture
There was a rumor of Hakeem being hired in some sort of vicinity to be Dwight's personal coach or something like that. Has this been debunked? Or was it never true?
That is THEIR player until July 1st when he becomes a FA. This isn't at all tampering. The Lakers had that window to be the exclusive team of contact.
Actually, it's even worse than that. 1. Assuming he invests some of the money (duh), a dollar today is worth more than the same dollar tomorrow. 2. Inflation also typically makes the dollar today more valuable than receiving the same dollar in the inflated world of tomorrow. If Dwight can invest at all, you would think he could make up the $9M before the fifth year even arrives, and if he signs *any* kind of new contract at that point, he would end up financially ahead. Of course, we Houstonians are neglecting his under-the-table telecom and movie contracts.
But Hakeem will be there past the point of recruiting, won't he? Just speculating, but would anyone truly be surprised if Hakeem offered free post lessons any time at Dwight's request? At the very least, Rockets would pay for the lessons.
I kind of like the polarity of Slim Thug versus Jack Nicholson. Kind of sums up the two cities in a warped kind of way.
