    It does not.

Basic point is, he'd save state income taxes by being an official Florida resident, but only 8 games worth (6 games in TX, 2 in FL), assuming he plays for the Lakers. He would pay taxes for all 82 games while being a resident of California (no matter who he played for).

He'd save state income taxes on 47 games (45 TX, 2 FL) if he signs with Houston and lived in TX (or FL).

and on top of that, Novak's defense was worse than Harden's. He moved very little, couldnt defend to save his life and all he did was shoot threes.

I find it ENTIRELY defensible to get rid of him, especially when you consider who we got with that pick.

Houston can't say the first thing, and the second thing wouldn't have even come close to happening if OKC had a healthy Westbrook.

No need to harp on the past, in recruiting Howard. Just focus on the now / future.

Parsons plays 48 mpg? Isn't Novak essentially a cheaper Garcia?

Not even close. Garcia isn't worse than a chair on defense.

    This makes sense.

    8 vs. 47

Still a big difference. Thank you.

I was basically saying that Beat LA's supposition that the desire to stay a Florida resident makes it more likely he signs in LA.

I dont see how that would be a valid thought process. Maybe Im missing something.

I still think it only matters when it comes to his federal taxes like I explained earlier.

Actually, we bought Parsons draft rights.

We got the right to swap picks in the Novak deal, but we traded it to Minnesota as part of the deal to get DMo and get rid of Brad Miller.

I see how he saves money if he gets residence in Orlando, but I thought you meant there was a loophole where he would save on over half the NBA games like he did in Orlando.

8 vs. 47 is a big difference and it does not change much, if anything.

    I dont see your point.

Nobody is saying play Parsons 48 minutes, quality backups can be had easily....like say...maybe Garcia? He at least knows what defense is.

Novak?? You must be one of those NY fans who came over with Lin...EVERYONE else in the NBA knows Novak is a one trick pony...and that trick is shooting threes.

He isnt the only guy in the league who can do that.

So Dwight appreciates Jack more than Hakeem?

I mean....Does Jack have a long and defined role with the Lakers or something?

If Dwight chooses the Lakers over the Rockets because of this kind of stuff then they can have him. Lebron would have never chose the Knicks over crap like this and there is a big reason why.

Not attacking you Cyber or stuff, just saying if Dwight thinks like this and lets Jack Nicholson sway his opinion on basketball matters than he's being pretty dumb.

    Now you are confusing me.

I thought we were working with you thinking:

He had no state income tax advantage to being a Florida resident vs. California resident, which he does (8 game checks worth).

He would only be moving back to Florida for a Homestead exemption, which deals with property taxes. He would also get that benefit, but would lose the homestead exemption on his House in Cali.

I think this all gets scrambled in here. I just don't want people confused. No doubt he is better off in Houston than LA, even if he lives in Florida.
