Larkin is the only player on the books after this season. The rest of their roster (Dirk, Marion, and Carter) are off the books and they are all over 35 years old. I don't think Dwight sees them as teammates after this season. Carter will be 37 next season and Marion and Dirk will be 36.

They can't bring back O.J. Mayo if they sign Howard because he is an unrestricted free agent.

If we don't hand Howard, I hope we keep as much cap as possible til next year. I'd rather have the cap space than overpay for Milsap, Josh Smith, etc.

So giving up a guy that is in the top-20 in 3pt % for the right to swap second round picks is a defensible decision? Considering he makes under 1 million this coming season, do you think the Rockets wish they had Novak (or a similar player) on the roster?

It wasn't cutting Lin that was stupid.

The White and Morris picks were bad but there is a good chance those picks don't turn out well. If you are resorting to using picks made at 14 and 16 and cutting Lin and Novak as indicators of a bad GM, then he must not be doing too bad. Also, didn't the Batum trade ultimately land us Artest?

This has nothing to do with Dwight, but just thought it was funny seeing all of the upset Mavs fans over the Whataburger hashtag.

Yes it does. If you reside in California, you pay state tax on all of your income. You receive credit for tax paid in other states (generally less than California). If he lives in a state with no income tax, in this case Florida, but playing in California, he would save income tax for games played in tax-free states.

Essentially, living in CA he pays state income taxes on the 8 games he plays in Florida & Texas each year. If he resides in Florida, he would not.

If he lived and played in Texas, he'd be paying no state taxes for 47 games.

No, not saying it does. But, I think he sees the broken down roster in LA, and knows Houston makes basketball sense. The only reason he gives LA a chance is the franchise history and the media market. Otherwise, he'd be on a plane to Houston right now.

Sadly coming back from Achilles is no joke. Most players are never the same, so I am not sure how much of a high level Kobe can play at.

Having said that Kobe is Kobe and he has managed to prove everyone wrong before. So if anyone can come back close to 100% it would be him. I just have my doubts on him ever been 100% and at a high level for 3 more years.

I doubt this guy had a source. He is just making a bold guess, and if he is correct he gets a few minutes of game. See Chris Broussard.

White has a lot of potential; there were a couple of teams wanting him. We got Parsons so that Batum mistake can be left out. Novak's just a shooter, we got Lin back, Morris was ok but lots of teams pass on better talent for a guy they like better; see Charlotte taking Zeller over Mclemore, Noel, and Burke

I was under the impression Florida also does not have individual state income tax.

EDIT: just checked...Florida does not have state income tax

Umm, Novak doesn't even start for the Knicks- and how about all those playoff minutes he got? SMFH. Seriously, Dallas Mavericks did a great job assembling that championship team for one season, a great job. And they did just as bad a job of tearing it down.

Dallas: "got raising canes in our corner."

Houston: "hey Dallas, we see your raising canes and raise you what-a-burger."

It does not make sense. I don't see how he will save anything. Would he pay the Florida state income tax (which is none) for the games he plays in Cali?

Correction: 1 game in Miami, and 1 game in Orlando - 2 games total

Are you gonna play Novak in front of Parsons? No. You're gonna bury him on the bench and play him spotty minutes because that's the wise thing to do.

And by the way, they traded Novak for a second round pick that turned out to be that very guy, Parsons! They moved up about 10 spots because of that trade.

is this guy serious?? he wants more star power on this team? It'll never have more star power than the team he's leaving. Nash/Kobe/Gasol though old and aging, collectively more star power than the Rockets clearly.

PLus if he's getting max money, Harden's getting max money, how are they gonna grab another star financially? He gonna come for a discount like wade/lebron/bosh all did? Doubtful.

By all reports he didnt like playing with Kobe cause he was overshadowed, he wanted more of the offense to run through him, yet now he says Harden and Parsons isn't enough surrounding talent?

Basically he wants to have his cake and eat it too.

Getting rid of Novak? Why did the Spurs, Mavs, and Clips get rid of Novak!? And now the Knicks too!

    Sorry to derail. Carry on.
