LAL knows him so well that they hired a coach that doesn't mesh with him at all, and retained his services after Dwight was vocal about not liking the system. If he wanted to be a Laker, he wouldn't meet with 5 total teams. He'd do what CP3 did and shut it down as soon as free agency opened.

Isn't that pretty much the same ragtag group that won a championship with Tyson Chandler?

If you look at the contracts from a CPAs perspective, Dwight would be a fool to consider the LA contract better. I am sure he has it narrowed down to Houston or dallas if he cares about money. It is not even close. The LA contract is only better vs states with no state income tax.

Please stop saying he gets a better deal in LA because the numbers do not lie.

Lol sounds great! I can't imagine what it is going to be like for McHale if we have both Dwight and J Smith on the same team.

And thanks again for the updates

Who exactly are they going to get? Unless you buy LeBron leaving for LA, which most don't, next year's free agency class is pretty weak. Wade and Bosh are aging and probably won't even opt out. Carmelo is a chucker and in his 30s, and apparently happy in New York. Kyrie Irving will be restricted whenever he's available. They can sell whatever they want -- who's going to be there to buy it? Give me names.

Also, no, the Lakers finished with the same 45-37 record as the Rockets last year -- despite the fact that they had Howard and the Rockets didn't. When comparing how each team would fare with Howard, to paint last season's records as anything other than a huge positive for Houston is disingenuous.

Not even close but good try. You're almost making posts that make sense.

The Mavericks finished only 4 games behind Houston despite having 15 different players as starters due to the substantial injuries the team faced. (Houston started 12 different players. Houston's 4 best players all played at least 76 games. OJ MAyo was the only player to appear in that many games for Dallas and only Mayo and Marion appeared in more than 52 games. The Mavs were a VERY hurt squad that still went .500. The appeal is that Dirk is going to take less money next year to make Dallas an attractive destination in 2014, a summer that includes a lot of talent beyond just the four your mentioned.

The Mavericks can also give Howard a pitch no one else can: "we've beaten the Heat in the playoffs."

Well, for one thing you have the extra year, which at the very least is security. And as cyberx is saying his looking at a way to keep his residence in Orlando to avoid some of the taxes...

I'm guessing Clyde was sold the moment Dwight told him he liked to dunk.

I'm well aware of his history. I just happen to think he wants to leave, but he doesn't want the image hit until he meets with the Lakers.
