Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes were big reason for GS's success in the playoffs besides Curry. I don't think the Warriors would look as appealing if they have to trade Thompson.
One positive, is that the Warriors would have to gut there team a bit to keep Howard. Harden/Curry are about equal in regards to starpower. We have the ability to get a Josh Smith caliber player via trade. Not to mention we basically dominated Golden State last year. I think Golden State is soft, and adding Howard will improve them, but not as much as it would the Rockets.
He doesnt necessarily have anyone that was there last night because he retweeted Woj whom he said was usually well ahead of everyone else, but in this case I guess he got wind that Dwight's camp seems to be pretty excited about HOU. I told you guys though that Heisler is not some homeristic hack writer. He speaks his mind whether its favorable or not. He feels like the Lakers should worry about the Lakers and not so much Dwight or any sign and trades to get him... in short, time to move on and retool.
Part of what I do is study and analyze the media, this type of thing: http://journalism.nyu.edu/undergraduate/concentrations/media-criticism/ Believe me, Ken Berger is a Kobe fan, and has been for some time. Or, to be more precise, much of what he has written in the past few years comes off as material written by a Kobe fan. Honestly, many of the writers in the media "choose sides" to help further their career. The Lakers and Kobe are popular. So, Berger may have attached to them/him for that reason. I don't know. I just know what he writes. Anyways, Berger has had a kind of "anti-Houston" tilt in his recent tweets and columns about Howard. Could that all just be coincidental based upon his professional opinion? It could be. But when you look at what Woj and others are saying, and when you look at the recent history of Berger's writings, I can't come to that conclusion. If a person becomes identified with a figure, or becomes a contact for a figure, then that person/writer relies on that figure for their stories. So, if the figure is diminished, so is the writer. To put it another way, it may not be in Ken Berger's interests for Kobe Bryant to kind of fade to obscurity at the end of Kobe's career. I'm not saying that is the case, and I'm not alleging anything here, but I do have some idea how these types of symbiotic relationships work.
If the Lakers are gonna take back salaries for Howard in a SnT, the players have to be someone they can build around or expiring contracts. I think it has been sufficiently shown that Bogut is not a centerpiece player that you build around...and IIRC his sizeable contract has more than one year left. In other words...GS can dream about trading Bogut for Dwight, but I HIGHLY doubt the Lakers want any of that.
Agreed. The Rockets wouldnt have to trade any of their integral pieces to acquire Howard. We have the ability to acquire another quality guy with the ability to move Asik/Lin.
I think it was reported that they would rather wait for 2014 where they could load up and go after the big boys next year. Lebron etc.
It's not LA's decision... Howard can walk away. Why would he agree to a sign & trade with Warriors if they're trading most of their pieces to the Lakers? Not worried about that.
